KVD moved up considerably after starting 30th after day one. KVD took off with the final 12 anglers Sunday and posted a 3rd best bag of 20-7 to move up to 6th overall for this tournament. Kevin’s 3rd top 10 finish this season, in as many tournaments.

KVD kicked up something while driving to his first launch, ripping a hole in his boat before launch on day 2. He was forced to switch up to a backup boat, but only after a lengthy delay of almost 2 hours. Despite this adversity KVD turned in a big 22-4 bag for the day after the boat switch. This helped move Kevin up 21 spots in the standings — into the top 10!
“I knew that I had a big problem almost immediately. It was the first time it’s ever happened to me, so I called Trip and he immediately trucked down to where I was at and brought me another boat. I’m real fortunate that BASS and Triton/Mercury had some sponsor boats here. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to get the stringer that I brought in.”“The fish were biting early, and I missed most of the early bite,” he added, “but that’s what this sport is about. You have to be able to overcome adversity.”
“It’s been a long day.”

Kevin has checked in from the Delta. Day 1 was rough. KVD reports finding a few groups of big bass, but not being able to land them. The Delta’s tide can vary over 3 feet, so Kevin is focused on following his tide charts, noting when, where, and at what levels he’s catching the big ones. Kevin has learned from day 1 and will look to jump up the charts today.
