every year I say the same thing, How do you guys do it. It seems like you just started fishing and it’s over. I guess you’ll start hunting. Or drinking by the fire place.  BH

just something we have to live with here, hasn’t been above freezing for the last 10 days with lows in the single digits and highs around 20 until today, then we get freezing rain today. I don’t hunt.

I love ice fishing.  I wish we would get enough ice around the St. Louis area to do some.

Flyman, you can have all our ice if you want it. I was open water fishing 2 weeks ago now all locked up. Another early winter this year, hopefully it wont be the end of April when the ice leaves like last year.

I was stationed in North Dakota from 84-89; we were ice fishing from Nov - late Mar (or early Apr) every year.  I loved it.

As I’ve gotten older, however, I do find myself as more of a fair weather fisherman - so I might complain a lot if I were out on the ice. smile

I was working as a civilian for the Air Force reserves at Minneapolis/St. Paul airport at the longest sustained cold weather in January or February 1996, highest temp was 1 above zero for 1 hour for the entire month. Ice out wasn’t until mid may. Ice fishermen fished for over 7 months that year.
