2012 Bassmaster Classic tag:kevinvandam.com,2012:forums/viewthread/.8171 2012-01-09T16:41:37Z TK http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/my-classic-picks

That article got me thinking about the 2012 Classic.  It will be here before we know it.

Ike picked 4 people to watch for the Classic, if you could pick any 4 or 5 to win or Top 5 finish, which 4 or 5 would you pick?  I changed it to 4 or 5 because I figured 99% will pick KVD.

Below is the link for the 2012 qualifiers.

http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/gruesome-discovery

I was fishing with my good friends Bryan Carter and Jerry Nye on Wednesday. We were up the river on the Mexican side, flipping logs down the bank. All of a sudden Bryan went “Huh!” That wasn’t a noise I expected him to make at that moment, so I inquired as to what he saw. He explained that at first glance, some trash on the bank looked like a skull and ribcage. Figuring it was a pile of trash – which there’s lots of on Falcon’s Mexican shores – Jerry and I took a look. Sure enough, we started to see it come together. We got closer and saw a pelvis, two leg bones, arm bones, and within 15 seconds it was obvious what we were looking at. It was sort of surreal for a moment. It was 3 feet from the water, so I trolled over, staying in the boat, and looked closer. Then it hit home that yes, it was the remains of a human. Its feet were tied together, and it had rags of mud-caked clothes draped about it. There was no flesh, so it had been there for a while.

Gerald Swindle GROW UP!! tag:kevinvandam.com,2007:forums/viewthread/.546 2007-11-07T22:48:28Z Reel i used to like Gerald.i met him a couple of times but over the past few years i see a swelled head and an I am holier than thou attitude. Recently in the BASS Insider 2 injuries from rods breaking reported. 1st was KVD. setting the hook on a big fish the reel seat broke and cut his hand up. 2nd… Here comes Gerald. Lost a fish at the boat and got mad and slammed the rod down and shattered the rod and reel seat and cut his hand up. I will never let my grandaughter around this attitude. Gerald has to grow up some day. Our man Kevin knows how the sport is played. Gerald loses it and he might as well go back to the ramp and trailer the Triton. he’s done because he can’t recover from a bad moment. That’s why he will not succeed any further. He is destroying his own dream. I know i sound a little blunt about it but he really is a bad example of sportsmanship.

Rick Clunn tag:kevinvandam.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.7723 2011-10-19T20:59:43Z RiverRat I really liked Bass Times article with Rick Clunn this month.  I didn’t read as excuses for not winning, but rather how an angler can have a hard time changing the way he/she fishes to win. imo.  When he said he had a hard time dropshotting even to win it made me wonder how many other elites won’t fish a certain technique or pattern no matter what.  Shallow v.deep, fast v slow, etc.
I remember when he fished against KVD on UMF.  He didn’t have to fish the 4th quarter, but said he wanted to win by fishing ability and not gamesmanship.  That’s risky with KVD in the boat!  I think he has some decent placings a few time this year.  How different is his style of fishing from KVD’s?  If they are similar than what are the differences that make KVD more competetive right now?  Clunn is very interesting to me, as well as Aaron Martens.  They seem very deep.  However, the hydrodynamic imaging thing makes me wonder if bass have sonar that’s that good. long post sorry.

David Walker’s crankin reel at Dixie Duel tag:kevinvandam.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.7693 2011-10-09T20:28:03Z RiverRat I was reading an article in Bass Times and the listed his reel as a Curado.  I thought he was using a round baitcaster.  Did anyone else note this?  I like seeing what equipment the pros use.  i aslo like when Zona breaks em’ down.
