Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. My 2 year old is all about fishing and I beleive Ive said he’s caught a few already. But yesterday we went to wal-mart. And I told him if he was good Id get him a truck to pull his nitro. He was good but he didnt want the truck he wanted another fishing pole. He now has 5 fishing poles....When we got to his grandma’s he went straight to her and said take me to wal-mart to get me a truck to pull a boat. So he’s also learning to work it to get what he wants which might not be good.

Plus he just woke up and came in here and got on dad’s lap. First thing he asked was go fishsy. I hope the rain holds off. Dads truck got to go into the shop for a few hours this morning first.

You will have a partner for life.

My daughter caught her first fish when she was 18 months old.  She’s now married and living in Alaska and about to make me a 1st time Grandpa.  We talked the other day and said I should come up there and go fishing with her.  Here she is with her 1st fish and another when she was 18.

I have to agree with you Miller Time, it is pretty cool.  My son has developed a love for fishing (he’s 5).  The really cool thing is that he uses spinning gear.  When I was at Bass Pro buying him a new pole, they were in awe that a 5 year old could/would use a spinning reel.  My son loves and things he is ultra cool (especially since I got him a BPS cover for it).  It is cool having that special bond with the kids.  Enjoy it!

You should have seen him with the boat once we got it home today. I told him it was our boat, but he kept telling everyone its daddy’s boat. Which is fine dont know when I’ll take him out in it after all the boy is only 2. But in all reality I have absolutely no reasoning to why more and more parents dont get there kids envolved in the outdoors. I know its not the 1950’s and its not neccisarly the cool thing for kids or parents. But damn it it should be. The combination of getting serious in outdoor activities and the birth of my son is what lead this metal head, tattoo’d drug using drunk to clean up his act. And the only reason I listed my son 2nd is because my change started in the outdoors and then was completed with the birth of my son. I honestly beleive that if more parents would get there kids involved in the outdoors more kids would stay out of trouble and even do better in school. Mainly because not even the (I hate to use this term) bad parents will send there kids into the woods alone or with friends with a loaded firearm, or out to fish if that kid didnt show at least a little bit of maturity and responsibility. Im not naive either I know that if 5 teenage friends go fishing together one of the 5 is likely to have some form of illegal substance. But I beleive with a solid up bringing and the fact that they know if they get caught doing something foolish that dad is likely to take take away that pole or shotgun then the kid is likely to pass up the peer presure. To be a good outdoorsman you have to have decipline, patience, and knowledge and I think we all know that those 3 things apply to alot more in life than just the outdoors. And if PETA or any other organization wants to pipe in and say its wrong just look to my signature. Im not preaching, Im not even the most religous person in the world I dont even attendt church. But my grandfather is a retired pastor and I have some background. I think if more outdoorsmen used the good book as a form of defense against these crazy organizations they will have a harder time fighting back. Because if you beleive or not as a major organization fighting against something with out goverment who says “In God We Trust” how can they go against the Bible?

Ok sorry about the rant.

First off is she really short or is that a 7’ rod she’s using? But seriously reason I quoted you is, is that a Iron Maiden T-shirt she’s got on?

She’s about 5’6”.  The rod is a Berkley Lightning rod - I think it’s 6’6”.

Yes it’s an Iron Maiden Shirt.  For my 40th birthday (almost 3yrs ago now) - She took me to Metallica and Godsmack concert in St. Louis.

While most of the music I listen to now is Christian rock/pop (contempary) I still like to “bang my head” every now and then - Metallica and Iron Maiden being my favorites.

Thats cool dude, Ive been revisting that era alot lately. Not so much on Metallica though still upset with the whole new radio friendly sound. They went from a band that was going against the hair metal grain and trying to say love us or not this is what we do. To becoming a heavier version of Def Leppard. Very disharting, and I think 2 of the saddest things about it is 1. Kirk Hammets solos got weak and repeative. 2. Robert Tejero is a awesome bassist and while his pay checks might not have been as big he should have stayed with Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society. If he’d done that I think he’d still have raked in some cash when Zakk would have brought him along with him to play with Ozzy. Tejero has been one of my favorite bassist since he was with Sucicidal Tendecies.

I have to say that the “Black” album introduced me into Metallica.  Since then, I have enjoyed the older days stuff, too (Master of Puppets album one of my Favs).  I also have say that the Metallica/Godsmack show was AWESOME (in my opinion).  I saw them in Omaha and wow!  I’ve seen Godsmack a couple times since and they put on a killer show each time!  New Metallica comes out this fall, too!  Not sure if still available, but you used to be able to go to the Metallica site and download the concert you were at (for a small fee).  That was pretty cool.

Imagaine that everything with Metallica comes with a small fee. I wouldnt be suprised if someday you dont have to pay a small fee just to be able to purchase the full album. My last concert was Eric Clapton, he was awesome played more blues than anything only a small handfull of classics. The guys I went with wasnt that big into the blues and was upset he didnt play alot of his hits. But I thought it was awesome. The best show Ive seen would have to be the Jagermeister Tour a few years back 2005 I beleive. It was Mastrodon, Killswitch Engage and Slayer......Killswitch was awesome, but the energy Slayer puts off was unmatched. The mosh pit was a touch violent but all in all it was good times. Another band thats awesome live in my opion is the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl still knows how to entertain from his Nirvana days.
