welcome to the forum! the only way to learn is to ask questions and to experiment and test it out for yourself. take advantage of everything you can get. this is a great place to get some expert knowledge. the guys on here know what they are talking about.

in the future post your fishing questions in the, Ask KVD a question section or General chat section. you will probably get more attention there than the Website comments section. not trying to be a jack@$$ or anything but just saying you might get more responses there.

how i would fish it is by locating the fish first with a crankbait or a lipless. once i got them pinpointed to a certain location i would pick them off with a jig, worm, and maybe even a dropshot. i would pick off the most aggressive ones off first with the crankbait before switching though.

On lakes like Guntersville I would target the depth the fish are relating to. Then I would look for ledges in that depth range that offer something a little different. Maybe a dip, small extension, cover.....anything that can act as a current break or ambush point. How I fished it would depend on the time of the year but I’ve caught ledge fish there on cranks, big worms, topwater, and big spinnerbaits.
How far do you live from the lake?

Yes the top water bite is strong if you hear the rice crispies in the grass.I fish only from Goose pond down to the lower end.Whenever you come down let me know and I’ll give you my number and maybe we can get together to show you the lake and catch some big fish.

I am no expert in this area, but there is one pond I fish that has a defined channel ledge that I consistently catch fish on.

The flat above the channel sits in aprox. 3 - 4 ft of water. The water in the channel is about 5 - 8 feet.

My favorite and most consistent way to catch fish here is to throw a Rapala DT10 crankbait (the DT10 keeps in contact with the bottom through the whole cast) or a DT4 (which is great if the fish aren’t associated with bottom) to the far flat - I like to make sure I get the crank at least 5 yards past the channel drop. I then simply crank it down and keep it there trying to deflect it off as many pieces of cover as I can - rocks, limbs, etc…

Your starting at a very good place if your in Sie Bold. It’s a good run from there to goose pond,I want to say about 3-5miles.Don’t quote me on that,I’ll get the map out and see.Get back with me on that. There is good grass all the way up.At water front there is alot of grass flats and alot of pockets with grass in them.Next would be mint creek, starting there is where the grass gets thick. All the way down the channel ledge up to goose pond you will catch good fish in the grass, just listen for the rice crispies and you’ll be on them. How long will you be down for?

I fished Goose Pond in late April. We caught a few fish there but had better luck around the Hwy 69 and Hwy 79 Causeway.  Still saw some bass on nest but a majority had moved off and was in a post-spawn funk. Do either of you have success in the Sauty creeks?

I’m sorry, that’s what we call it around here.Rice Crispies is when the bait fish are feeding on micro bugs and the bluegill are feeding on the small insects, which is like a calling card for the bass. You here 2different types of slurping around and in the grass mat.If you don’t here that most of the time your wasting time, but still try it I wouldn’t stay long on it,move on till you here it.From what I am reading in the bass-master mag It’s time to fish the in between method (Sept.-Oct)issue.That’s what I’m going to try on my next day out.I hoped that helped you ,If not let me know and I’ll try to explain it alittle better.
