I’m going fishing this weekend and I was wondering since its fall--what baits to use. I really dont know alot about fall fishing so reply back! Thanks!
Covering water is the name of the game for the fall. The fish are bunched up and following bait balls around the lake. Find the balls of forage fish and you will do fine. I like to use buzzbaits over big weed flats and shallow running crankbaits. Lipless baits will also be good now fished over the same areas. Big jigs and worms around boat docks and shallow cover is another good pattern.
find coves in your lake that have active bait fish jumping and look for seagulls diving down into the water. I like to throw lipless crank baits and swimin jigs. also try to go into creeks but dont go to far into the creeks yet because the water probliy isn’t that cool yet in your lake. I think your best bet would just follow the seagulls tho. I love fall fishing, if your fishing in the right spot you can nail them every cast.come back on later and post how you did.
super spook for top water, shakey head, crank bait, texas rig, spinner bait, all have work for me in the fall. fish go deep this what i use creepy crawlers, spoons, drop shot
im also new to the fall bass fishing. it sounds like what is happening is bass are going after schooling fish. i would just try to immitate the baitfish in the lake.
After a top water morning bite with buzzbait I like spinner baits for fall as well. My preference is a 1/4 ounce strike king with the perfect skirt and trailer hook. Run it through any timber laydown near shore, in bays or creeks, and never pass up crappie stake beds!
Man, we have been tearin ‘em up by stroking a jig. We find right where the grass die-off line is and just rip our jigs over it. Its kind of a patern that i had forgotten about. The frog bite seems to be getin slower and slower, as the fish are moving deeper
I have 1 question for KVD.. or anyone else who can answer this..its not about fall fishing its about winter fishing, last year i had a number of beutiful bass hit my lure becouse of slow reeling, using a Bang-o-lure Jerkbait, by bagley.. this year should i use the same lure, i have had some luck with slow reeling cranks deep… of course i downsized.. but what would be a good start?.. never fished jigs.. good a jerkbaits, and dogwalkers, basically im a topwater fanatic… any suggestions?… theyve all been around 2 half to 5 pound bass. my dad says if i want to catch the big fish i half to just give up and junk fish.. as much as i hate to junk fish im beginning to believe he is right… a big 8 to 10 foot rod, with 250 pd braid tie braid about a foot from lure to pole, and tie on a broken back rebel.... ? oh yeah I fish a river to...water temp around 35 to 55 degrees ...air feels like 25… my dad sais there are big 10 pders in there.??????
