I bought a old 16ft. Aluminum boat but it has some leaks . A friend told me to use aluminum gutter sealer. Has anyone tried this before or is there something better to use ?

we got ours profeshionally welded but still these aluminum boats are so hard to keep dry because those rivets leak so much.

can you get to the leaks from the inside?? if so, probably some type of roof sealant that is used for RV campers… these have a little give to them due to the vibration of dragging your camper all over God’s creation for our recreation. go by your Lowes or Home Depot...or ACE hardware store.... ask for the roofing sealant. there are several brands out there and these can all be brushed on. use a throw away brush and apply 2 or 3 coats.

my first flat bottom i had, i cut some marine plywood to the size of each flooring compartment and laid in there to keep to much traffic on the very bottom of the boat....a little paint that matches your boat color or whatever you may have left over from a project...will do nicely to give a finished look.  but these are only suggestions...good luck

I used to have a jonboat with the same problem. I used a product called Aluminox, and it worked perfectly. If I remember correctly, I purchased it at Wal-Mart. It cost around $15.00.

Roll on bed liner works perfect.you can do the whole bottom to protect the boat. That’s what I used on my flat bottom when I had it.Applied about a 1/4” coat.
