I’m thinking about picking up another Quantum PT rod - this one will be the Mike Wurm Finesse rod:

This rod has a Tennessee style handle.  I was wondering if anyone uses one of these types of handles.  If you do, what do you use to attach the reel?  I was thinking about electrical tape, but that would goop up in the St. Louis area heat.  I looked at this product - http://www.phoenixblazerods.com/Drop-ShotWeightKeeperSystem.html - but can’t find any reviews of it.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!!!!!!

I don’t own one of those personally, but I have a friend who does. He does use electrical tape. I haven’t heard any complaints, and it gets toasty in Georgia too.

I have 3 custom made spinning rods that have graphite Tn. handles. They are excellent. On my heavy action rod I have a Shimano Spirex 4000 and on my other two rods I have Spirex 2000’s. I have them attached with electrical tape and have never had a problem even in the hottest of the summer. The tape doesn’t even get slippery when my hands sweat. I first tried tennis handle tape but it was too bulky for my liking so i bought a good quality black tape and wrap 3 times. I wrap the reel foot front and rear and wrap 2 inches past the reel foot. Also I found it is a good idea to go to Walmart or some place similar and go to the kitchen wares dept. and buy a roll of the rubberized anti skid material that some women use in their cupboards. Cut a small strip of this material and put it between the reel and the handle. This will insure against any chance the reel might creep under the tape. I promise you that this is an excellent set up and you will not regret having rods with the Tn. handles. With graphite handles my rods are the most sensitive of all my rods. I dont know if you can say the same thing about Tn. handles made of cork. I have never tried them. Good luck with the Tenn. handles.
