My dad is getting long in the tooth (70+) and can’t handle the ole bait casting reel anymore.  Too many bird nests which are frustrating him.  Do they make a baitcaster which is geared for the senior types or should I just put him on a spinning reel?

Well, i would say to try to up the magnetics to ease on the backlashes and try to get him to move to a spinning. Every single bass lure can be casted with a spinning set-up also.
