I’m looking around for a USED 17-19’ aluminum bass boat with a 50-90 horse engine for under $8K. (must be a V bottom, no flat bottom or super shallow V’s)
I’m having a hard time finding any aluminum bass boats in that range though.
I’m basically looking for something similar to this:
http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=2835

If you can post any suggestions of what you think the best boats are on the market in the range I’m looking for(within the last 10 years or so) and how much they typically sell for I’d appreciate it. I’d prefer to spend less then 6K but I’m looking at boats up to 8K just to keep my options open. Also any personal experience (good or bad) with your aluminum boats would also be a big help. When referring to a specific boat please include a link to it somewhere online so I could check out what it looks like and its specs. Thanks

Sounds like a sweet deal. What condition was the boat in?

My father inlaw had a G3 with a 115 horse yamaha.  It was a pretty good boat lots of room for storage and huge decks.  I like the Express great looking boat don’t know the price range though.  My father inlaw paid about 10k for his G3 brand new.

I’ve never heard of G3 boats until this post. After looking them up they look like great boats but I don’t see general boat prices on the G3 webpage. They’re also a real pain in the butt to find in online boat sellers. I’ve searched Craigslist, BoatTrader and eBay and have only found a couple that I would consider…. and there either halfway across the country or too expensive.

I’m finding 18’ fiberglass boats in good/great condition with 115-150 engines around 5-8K. What sucks is if I get one of these boats then I have to get a bigger truck to pull it. My wife will skin me if I tell her I have to buy a truck after I get a boat LOL.

My dad bought a used ranger 207 last year. Its a 1996 17’ 4” deep v with a 1997 115hp on it. He paid 8g for it. It has a few decal problems on it, wore off by dock rash. We spent a day and removed all the decals except for the ranger one and i got to say, it looks better with out the decals than with.
Its a great boat, its got lots of storage, rod storage, 2 depth finders, a new min kota maxxum 80. and a bait well for walleye fishing. Came with a pole seat in the front and a regular seat in the back.

here’s a link, only ours is white and blue and looks alot nicer than that.

hey nemesis…..i own a ‘04 BASS Tracker PT175 w/50hp merc.  great gas consumption…not a lot of speed, around 30mph on good water…paid 13K brand new. its a great boat for me, my son, and my wife when she goes.  friend of mine had a fishing buddy with the G3…..he told me the design of the hull, especially the the bow when taking on a little rough water….the boat took on water….he spotted me in similar water and asked how dry we were…big difference. i would tell anyone looking and if there was a choice between the Tracker and the G3….i would suggest the Tracker. but then, thats just me….

I have 04 tracker tv-18 with 90 Merc. When I bought mine it was 13 brand new now its at almost 20 since gas prices have soared. TRacker makes a good boat and smooth ride for a alum. boat. You should be able to fond one in your price range that is in good fishable condition. Wish you luck.

Two years ago I bought a Lowe Stinger 170.  For the same price I opted for a 50 horse Merc and a 9.9 Merc for State lakes instead of the 75 horse Evinrude that was supposed to come with it.  It is 18’ and plenty wide. Lots of storage space. The only downfall is the live well didn’t come with a recirc option.  But, since I don’t tournament fish, that’s not a problem to me.  Good luck.

the estimated speed is 38 to 41 MPH, but that is fast for a aluminum boat!
