Came across this recipe over the weekend.

6 links of Bratswurst
1 bottle of amber ale (or Shiner Bock original)
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp red win vinegar or cider vinegar
Serve with spicy brown mustard on the side
And Rye bread

Slow Cooker Directions

1. Combine bratwurst, ale, onion, sugar and vinegar in slow cooker. Cover; cook on LOW 4 to 5 hours.

2. Remove bratwurst and onion slices from show cooker. Cut bratwurst into 1/2 inch length slices to fit on a sandwich. Spread mustard on bread and brats/onions. Enjoy.

TIP:
Don’t use too dark of a beer, could leave bitter.

Serve with some Sauerkraut or German potato salad.

I’ve started boiling my brats in beer before putting them on the grill.

I take a 6-pack of whatever beer I buy (I don’t drink beer, so I don’t know what’s good - SORRY).
1 or 2 onions - preferably white; chopped up
Poke holes in all the brats
Boil brats and onions in the beer for about 20 - 30 minutes
Remove and place on hot grill until the outside turns a nice shade of brown
Put ‘em on a bun (ONLY WITH MUSTARD - just kidding) and enjoy.

Soak your brats for about 30 minutes in the fridge. Take your onions and put the brats and beer in a aluminum pan and set it on the grill to “slow cook”. once everything kind of starts to boil a little take the brats out and finish em on the grill and remove the onions from the pan. Once they’re cooked top the brats with those onions and add some mustard and wash it all down with an ice cold brew. Nothing better than tailgate food.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I am a cowboy charcoal only guy.  What I like to do is soak my hickory chips in a shallow 9” pan with blue moon.  cook em low and slow.  I go straight to the grill uncooked and steam em.  It takes a long time but oh my….
