I dont know? Last week I put in a application at a place closer to home that pays any where between 2-5 dollars more on the hour. Today they called and I was dead tired didnt get much sleep yesterday and after working 10 hours last night I couldnt make out the diffrence between my alarm and my cell. When I return the call I got there voice mail and now I cant sleep.....Think I’ll try again shortly. Shure could use that job, I mightly actually be able to afford a more high end casting reel with this job...lol

Go for it, with the cost of gas these days a closer job will save lots of money. The 2-5 dollars more is a bonus. I’d say go for it 100%.

I agree w/ BBK.  Closer to home means less gas and more family time.  Good luck with that!!!!

Finaly got ahold of them, I have my 1st interveiw at 10:30 tomarrow morning. Im trying to not get to excited, last year around this time I had a interview and even got a drug test at a Lowes Disturpution but that was the end of it. I know for a fact I should of passed the drug test been sober for going on 3 years. Unless I just didnt scrub my chompers good enough. It was my first mouth swab drug test.

Did you happen to rinse out your mouth with mouth wash that morning? That was on a mythbusters episode once, some tests will give a false possitive for alcohol if you use a certain mouthwash and test. Weird how employers can use those tests when there not 100% acurate.

I honestly dont rember, however thats strange because I have a friend who has only passed 2 drug tests in his life clean. And he’s worked alot of job maybe even more than myself. And I know for a fact that twice he’s passed a mouth swab test by rinsing with Listorine for 2 hours straight.

Meant to tell you guys yesterday but I didnt make it online before work. I had my interview and they offered me a position. However, according to them this position has such a high roll over that the only way they hire for it is through a short temperory time. Basicaly I have to go through a tempory service for 30-45 days to show them that I can handle the job and wont walk out on them. I dont know how or if they actualy save money or if its just to see how serious a guy is interested in the job and to cut down on some paper work for a guy that might only last a week. Needless to say I didnt hesitate I told them Id head up there right after the interview but because I had also told them I had already stayed up from working 3rd shift for a 10:30 interview they wanted me to go this morning and to go home and get some sleep. So thats what I did(and twitch I drove to work and made it to Madison by 8am it would have gave me 2 more fishing hours if Id drove to work on that one fishing trip) I got registered, passed the tinkle test and start monday morning at 7am. Im to train on 1st shift for a week before being moving to my “B” shift. 12 hour swing shifts basicaly I work less than half the year on this shift including holidays, shutdowns and vactaion. I get 50 cent more a hour then I was making through the temp service $10.50 once I go full time and $12.00 after a year. Which would be $2.00 more than I would have made full time at where I was. Sure hope this is my final job and one of the final steps of getting the family back together, not to mention the potential to increase my outdoor budget.

Wow, sounds like a very serious job. Are you working 5 day weeks or 6? And i had to LOL at the “tinkle test” I remember my first interview about a year ago, they made me do the “tinkle test” and i was so nervous that i couldnt do it. Then they asked why it took 15 minutes to pee in a tiny cup. They actually thought i was doing something to the pee to influence the test. Sounds like you are doing good though. Good luck with the new job!

Congrats.

My opinion varies from the others. I use the drive time as either down time or to catch up with my friends on the phone.

It’s like a mini vacation each day...well worth the extra in gas.

Yea Id agree if I made more than $9 dollars a hour. Especially in a truck that get 15-17 MPG. This job is alot closer and most of my friends are busy with familys or still partiing to hard for my taste.

I understand your point Miller Time, but I’ll agree with Browny!  I have a 70 mile one way commute and I don’t mind the drive time.  On the way to work, I can get focused for the day and the way home is a great time to catch up with family via the phone (of course, depending on which report you read, could be heading for a life full of cancer from using the cell so much, but I do use my hands free *L*).  Of course, the drive home is a great way to unwind, too. Sometimes I’ll just sit back and either listen to music or talk radio and just let the car drive home...just depends on my mood.

Anyway, congrats on the job upgrade MillerTime!  Having the extra time and coin will be great addition to putting the family (and fishing gear) back in order.
