One thing that made me do better in college was the fact that after I got out I knew was going to have to pay for it. That and I worked in a hot factory the first summer after HS and realized there has to be an easier way to make money.

Just as TTP said...paying for it will help you do better.  And if you get the chance to kill yourself for the summer trying to make some money, you will understand the importance of that little piece of paper you get at the end of it all.  If you are going to college for just the education and nothing extra I think that will help.  I played sports in college and that was pretty hard going to class all day then practice till 8 at night then trying to get homework done after that.  Of course I always didn’t do some of the homework, but thats another story.  Get the degree while you are young....focus on that, wait until you have real time for other stuff.  Once the kids start and “life” actually hits...college is extremely hard to go back to...not enough money, jobs, kids, bills.......then it gets really hard....

Teaching college frosh science was my life for 27 years…
1st...make a schedule and keep it (do not take too many courses a semester year 1!) 2nd...hang around with A-B students, you can’t earn much from losers except how to lose...3rd...study every day of the week 4th...find a serious study partner or two 5th...study 5-7 days per test 6th...always read and hi lite the text no matter what the prof says 7th...become a good note taker 8th...give up every other weekend, give it up for your future 9th...get enough sleep, keep a good attitude 10th...ask ask ask if needed and always realize millions have a degree and its gonna end someday.
My wife and I have doctorates...none of our parents had a day of college...you can do it...one day at a time...all the best to you!!!
