I was over on the Tackle Tour message board and they were trashing the new Quantum reels before the even hit the market!!!!!!Do you think this is because they are loyal to there brands and loyal to there favorite fisherman????What are your thoughts on this????I have rods & reels from all the top companys out there(Shimano reels,Diawa reels & Revo reels-Kistler rods,St. Croix rods & G. Loomis rods) but I am going to be getting all new rods & reels next year and I want to get all my equipment from one company because I don’t like taking the time to get used to different outfits everytime I put one down and pick up another on the water. With using the same companys rods & reels I think the transition should be smoother from one techneque to another, what is your guys thoughts on this???????

Not sure of that particular brand’s reputation but I will say this.....this board is full of guys who seem to choose gear and boats etc because KVD uses them. Make no mistake....KVD is a great fisherman and a really nice guy.  However.....never, ever, ever buy your gear because some pro uses it.  They get paid to use it.....do you ??
You say you have used lots of brands...I know many of them. I particularly know St Croix and Shimano. If you were to choose 2 brands you have actually used, and LIKED to use, then you’d be moving in the right direction. Why go to a brand you don’t know . Stick with those you do know for your base gear and try others here and there from time to time.
Sound logical ??
Do not follow the pros.  They will be the first guys to tell you that.

Good luck

its great to use the same companys brand exclusively, you dont have to adjust everytime you pick up a new outfit.. but thats totally up to you. I can tell you what i like, but thats not going to tell you what you like.

My main goal is to stay with one company for all my combos and I have used Quantum before and that is one of the main reasons why they are my top choice, but I am not talking about me getting products because pros are using them.I am just saying it is amazing to hear people talk down on products just because they had or know somebody that had bad cases using a product from a company. Thanks for the replys fellas.

Well i’m a Ardent freak!!! I get all kinds of grief from loyalist. Mostly from shimano & Diawa people. I’m not asking you to use what i use so please don’t give me any grief on what i use. All i can say to the shimano & diawa people must feel threatoned with other reel companies. I have nothing bad to say about quantum at all. But if you have bean using the product long enough. You then already know there a division of Zebco. I know i had a hard time when they first started buying a 100.00 reel. From a a comapny that was making 15.00 reels at the time.  That was just my image of them at the time. But Quantum has come along way. That’s why i like Ardent. The company has came from no where just 4 years ago. There American made. That’s why i like this company. So if your quantum fan.  Listen to yourself & what you like not others.

i dont own one quantum brand of anything. not because i dont like them its just i like pflueger and fenwick rods alot and have stayed with their products. i might purchase one of the new tour editions because they look like great reels but i also might just buy the pflueger patriarch. its not about what everybody else is using its about what you like.

I have my favs, but i dont use all the same brand, i do like my Quantums for cranks, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, but i use Shimano for my Texas and flip rods, i use a Diawa for my carolina rig........nothing wrong with any of them, but its just the most confy combos i have, my Shimano reels dont feel right casting cranks, and my quantums dont feel right flippin. I look at stuff pros use, and i buy only what i feel can be used in my region on the lakes i fish.

People should have an open mind, always soak up info, but in the end you should stand by what you feel is correct

Yes I agree with you on keeping a open mind all the way.I am more of a power fisherman and I got away from Quantum a few years back and I used one of my buddies Quantum PT last year and I liked it alot for the style of fishing that I do and after seeing all this info about the new PT about to hit the market I am more than likely going to go that route with all my new combos.I have been telling myself to pick one company for my combos for the last 3-4 years but I just have been lasy with it so I just put my foot down(against myself,LOLOL) and said this winter I am going to make the switch.I was also looking at Pflueger reels and staying with my Kistler rods, but I am a very big fan of left-hand retrieve baitcasters and there top of the line is only right handed, but I was really liked there top end spinning reels,my father is uses spinning reels from Pflueger and he likes them alot.I tried them once and they were nice.Well fellas it is almost 5:30 A.M. here in PA and I am about to get up eat some breakfast, get my son ready for school and hit the water, have a good one.I have a date with a few overweight Largemouth Bass,LOLOL.

I dont know why anglers trash Quantum products. I have fished with one rod and reel for catfish for over 5 years now. I have not had issues with it. It could be that they dont take the time to properly care and store them correctly. After each year I clean and store all my rods and reels. Takes a lot of time and most people want the easy fix to things. Just one possible answer for ya. If you like them then stay loyal man.

I have not had any problems with my Quantum products for the last 5 years. Not one.
I own about 6 reels and several of their rods.
I do fish other gear but I have nothing negative to say. I actually think it is great performace for the money.

i tend to like my Quantum products far better then the other ords and reels i own but for me its a question of money and being able to afford the set ups i really like. i do like the kvd signature series for crankbaits and spinnerbaits and ive had alot of success with those products
