I agree….it’s open to interpretation.
The key is that the import car companies have done a very good job of convincing Americans that because they give them some jobs, that they are American built (as we used to know it) cars. Not so. I spend a great deal of time in Japan….and trust me when I say, the Japanese car companies would never call these American made cars. They would call them cars assembled in America by a Japanese Company. There is a difference.
(I really like the truck though…..test drove one at Bass Pro last summer. Nice !)
My Z-9 is pulled with a 2007 Acura MDX the black SUV looks hella sweet with the black accents on the Z-9 I love it! 1400 a month SUV and boat payment makes the wife a little mad with my toys though lol… but she just got her new Acura TL so she cant complain to much lol

Wow !!....the Acura is a real sweet vehicle, and I’m sure it looks nice, BUT towing a boat of that size with a vehicle designed with a V-6 and a tow capacity MAX of 3500 lbs., you are risking some serious damage to that sweet Acura engine. At last look, the Acura had only a 2.7 gear ratio at low gear. There will be some very heavy stresses on that engine if, for example, you start from a dead stop on an incline. No matter what some dealer tells you, that nice Acura is NOT designed to tow a boat like yours. A small john-boat…sure. But not a 20’ fiberglass rig with a 250 hanging on the back.
I tow a 2008 Ranger 620 that weighs around 2800 pounds with an F-150 with a BIG (5.4L) V-8 and a tow capacity over 3 times what the boat weighs.
Just an opinion here…. but me….I’d absolutely look into a different tow vehicle for that nice new Nitro. The Acura’s engine life will be shortened greatly by that rig on the back.
I know this is an older discussion, but I was thinking the same question? How many members have changed their tow vehicles since their last post?
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado Z71, ext. cab, 5.3L. She will have 300,000 miles on her before the end of the year, and still making payments. I might just go for half a million miles.
I am starting to believe their motto “Silverado | The most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road.” I will have to wait until I get mine broke in before I can confirm that.
Since I bought the new Z-9, I had to upgrade my tow vehicle. The 4.7 in the old dodge wasn’t pulling that 21’ boat very easily. So my wife told me I had to trade in the old dodge and get a new one with a hemi. I hate it when that happens. Now I have a ‘12 Big Horn crew cab. The sacrifices that I make for my wife.
