Nice work! Nice accomplishment man! Bet that hit the pocket nice. Im right behind ya kevin if I came come out from my pocket! Im from The outskirts of Lansing MI in laingsburg and I tell ya the times are tough here! I cant even afford to keep my bass boat! Its only a small triton but it did the job nicely in the local tournaments here! Gotta say HI to the Lansing River Rats Fishing Club! I had many years of FUN! Im 37, and I have a 9 year old daughter and a 6 year old son and Im about to say screw it and do a KVD and get a loan for a motorhome, new boat and truck and tell my wife and kids lets go. But Im in debt as it is and my wife would never go for that. I got the skills but not the opportunities. I started as a kid catching 30 - 50 bass a day in a lake I lived on here in michigan. My record for bass caught in one day was 86 which beat my partner at the time who had 83 back in 1999. Biggest Large mouth bass caught in Michigan was a 10 lb on big pine island lake trying to beat the state record. My mother lives in Grand Rapids so I can go fish around there alot. I fished alot of river fishing throughout michigan ecspecially the Grand and Muskegan for small mouth as well as largemouth. Believe it or not alot of people dont realize how many large and smallmouth bass are in the river! There are usually a few big smallmouth at each weigh in, and I have a couple spots I fish for only smallies at. Some fun times I tell ya! Kept me out of trouble and gave me a good practice to pass onto my children. My dad lived on stony lake in shelby close to sand lake and there were many state record fish caught there, I was in a canoe and caught one of the biggest small mouth bass I have ever seen out of there! 5-10 lbs! Theres a creek thats hooks stony lake to lake michigan so that explains why all the big fish. God bless RIP my dad passed away a few years ago and I will always remember our fishing trips together! BTW I bought my boat at http://www.dandrsports.com in kalamazoo, It really treated me good over the years, and I almost fished with ya when I was up at gun lake, a few months ago. Guess you were getting a hair cut? Anyways Kevin I guess my question is does anyone really get a break? lol Something like $125,000 would be life changing for me, I could get a truck, boat, and maybe a cheap motor home and follow my dreams. How do you find the sponsers that will hook you up? Did it take you months of grinding on the trail before you got noticed? Did you get any offers like here use our boat or truck? Do I really have to just take a loan and buy those, or are there sponsors that will pay for that for you if you produce bass? Its just so scary financially it would kill me and put me in debt, but Im at the point in my life where im ready for this and need to do this for me to die happy lol. It would be life changing if I just competed in one official BASS tournament! I thought about video taping myself while im fishing but finding someone to go with ya and hold a video camera the whole time is hard hehe. Maybe I could have my 6 year old boy do it? No lol he would probably fall in and he has to have positive fishing trips with his dad. But where would I even send the tape to get noticed? I should have a good enough personally to do some interviews, sponsor something, or to show my lunker bass onstage! The wife says im a mix of KVD and Mike I. Im in works now for a extendable clamp that clamps your video camera to a boat, Very handy! You heard it here first! If you want to check out a picture of me, my boat, and and a first place trophy I got from a tournament here in michigan, Check out my myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/basshaal27 You can email me if you want to answer me at or post here. Thanks! Good luck bro and hope to fish with you someday!
