I’m not really ready to freeze yet. But i can’t pack my rods or i’ll get way to bored. I got a few questions on winter fishin that would really help me out.
-what is the best thing to put on your hands and still get good feel with a finesse rig.
-Do those red suit things the pros wear during winter work good.

Well, the key thing in the winter is to try and remain dry. Hands included. So, any cheap pair of gloves will fork for finesse fishing if you cut out the fingers. Be sure to have several pairs of gloves available and replace them as the become wet. I wear the same BPS suit KVD fishes in. It has a zip in liner and is sealed with Gore-Tex. Keeps the rain and wind out. When Winter fishing another key thing is to wear multiple layers. Shed a layer when you become too hot and dont let yourself start sweating. Another thing you can do for cold fingers and toes are those ready heat packs. Pick up a few of them and keeps some in your pockets and in your socks.
If you own a boat I highly recommend a helmet or a Save-Phace mask while moving. I went out a few times this past December and running from one point to another is almost unbearable without one.

get some wool gloves with the fingers cut out of them, they will keep your hands warm and you can still work with your line/lures/etc.  I wear bid and jacket set of Frogg Toggs.  Its light weight but still holds some heat in, and then I go to layers.  Depending on what the weather is like, I will break out my hunting clothes for this, good long underwear, then a pair of cargo hunting pants that I can put a heat pack in each side pocket, a pair of wool socks and for the top I wear the long underwear top with a wool shirt on over a long sleeve shirt.  I have a spare hooded sweat shirt as well.  Take a stocking cap and an extra towel for your neck, roll the towel up into a long tube and stuff it in your shirt around your neck, this will help retain heat in your body, plus the hooded sweatshirt or Frogg Toggs will keep it dry.  Always keep your head, hands, and feet dry and warm, if you dont, your done.  One thing I love to use for my hands is a hand muff tied to my waist, I can always move it to my back or to the side if I need it out of my way, but a hand warmer in there will save the day.  Remember you wont be able to fish like you do durning the spring/summer/fall in terms of “speed” if the weather is super cold, so just take a few mins and warm your fingers up or drink hot coco or eat some chicken noddle soup from a thermos.  It will pay off in the long run.  Good luck, there is some good fish to be caught at this time.
