If youre looking for one rod to use for both applications I would choose either the 6’6 Medium or 7’0 Medium from the Energy line. I really dont think the Energy line offers a good selection of rod lengths. They all seem to be either a 6’6, 7’0, or 7’6. My ideal rod for top water or jerks would be a 6’8 Medium. Maybe they offer that in the Tour or Superlight series.

I like to different rods for my jerkbaits and topwaters.  Jerkbaits and poppers I like the 6’6” med. and for walking baits I like the 6’6” med. heavy.  But for just one rod I would error to the med. side.

Personally, its tough for me to pick up a rod thats under 6’6. A ML action would not be enough backbone for me either. But, a 6’4 may be just what youre looking for. Good luck.

I use a 6’4” ML KVD sig series rod for unweighted jerks and sinkos. Its really awesome for throwing unweighted superflukes. If your planning on weighting it or throwing deep diving hard jerks, go for a M or MH.

Yea, 6’4” would be good, but i also feel that the ML wouldnt be enough backbone for me.  Ill probably end up buying two rods like you and a bunch of others said before.  One M for Jerks and a MH for Topwater.
