I use both the 6.3:1 and 7.1:1 reels and I use Quantum reels exclusively.  Mostly the Accurist Pt.

i like a higher ratio reel so when i get a fish i can get it out fast.... my pflueger presidential works pretty good for that which is a 6.3:1 but i would prefer a faster reel

I use a quantum tour edition pt on most of my reels including pitching, flipping and frog baits.

The two best times to be fishing is when its rainin’ and when it ain’t.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Men and fish are alike.  They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

Like already mentioned I use a high speed reel to get the fish out of the cover quick.  I use a Quantum e760pt.

More important then the reel (IMHO) is a good rod.  I use a 7ft MH fast tip rod with plenty of backbone to horse those fish out.  For this I use a Quantum Tour Edition PT rod.

Thanks for all your help.  I just bought a BPS Pro Qualifier reel in 7.1:1 Gear ratio yesterday for fishing heavy cover and love it.  I paired it up with a MH Berkley Lightning rod and it is awesome. I put some 50lb. BPS Excel Braided line on it and I can cast a 1/4oz plug 30yds.
