Think about it this way….........she’s the one person in the Classic that is going to be overlooked. The smart people, the ones who follow the WBT, will know not to overlook her. She has a better than 50/50 shot of winning the Classic and I will put her in the top 10.
the way i see it, fishing is a mental game, the ability to learn over the years, notice your surroundings and put all information to use, a woman is just as capable as a man, and the fact that she didnt luck her way in, shes a dominant figure on WBT. Her chances are as good as any man if you take gender out of mix, then it all comes down to who prepares the best. I would like to see her do really well to prove a point and set a new standard. Fishing is a 60 billion dollar a year business and is male dominated, just think how good it can get if young gals have a positive role model, maybe someday fishing will be something more familys can do together because women like it also.
I totally agree that she has a shot as any to win and can do alot for the womans tour. I just think the media pressure will get to her and not allow her to focus like she would want to.
I think she will finish in the top 20. I hope the best for her and I think she has a great shot at winning, but I think KVD and guys like him who have “been there, done that” will brush off all the “pressure” and attention and adjust to get bigger bags as the tourney goes on. Plus I would never hear the end of it from my wife if she won… So I hope she finishes 2nd at best. LOL Go KVD!!!

I highly doubt she’ll be overlooked. She’s the lone female fishing in the largest tournament of the year. She’s also the first woman to fish a Bassmaster Classic. I think she’ll have spectator boats and media in her face all week. If she can keep her cool, she’ll probably do well, after all, she is an excellent angler. Nobody expects her to do very well, but I heard she’s on some fish, so who knows….Nobody thought Kerchal would win it…and he shocked the world. I see her finishing in the top 10 if she can handle the attention she gets on the water.
I like her chances overall but I think all the media attention and the fact that many of the men fishing don’t want her there will hurt her some. With that said I would like to see her in the top 10 and better yet the top 5.
its obvious thats shes very intelligent and she could do really well if she puts it all together. i was reading the article bassmaster published about her tho and im not sold that shes quite as good as these guys. I think top 25 would be a big accomplishment for her. shes gona keep getting better tho, i wouldnt be surprised to see her in upcoming classics time after time.
id love to see her do great tho, and what top10 said is right on. we need more women in this sport, especially ones that are willing to date me lol
her and her hubby, a pro fisherman himself and an owner of a bait company, have plenty of knowledge between them, they not only do well in bass tournaments, they are also winners in Kingfish tournaments, if your fishing at a top level for 2 totally different species, you have a very good understanding about what fish do and when, thats 90% of what it takes, rest is dealing with pressure and execution.
yeah, thats a great point. what makes me a little nervous is when she talked about how much she was still learning about bass fishing, and thats pretty scary if your a women in the wbt. but im just worried that shes gona be a little behind some of the others; again tho i think she can do really well but these are the best in the world so she better be 100% focused
Remember Bryan Kerchal (1994) & Michael Iaconelli (2003), both got classic entrys from winning lower level events and both came in and beat the best in the world
