When I got home from work today I checked the ice on my small lake. Its been completely frozen over for a few days , so I made a hole about 10’ off the shore. I found about 2 1/2” of ice. Its not good ice, because its cloudy. I’ll check it again in a few days. Maybe I’ll be fishing a week from now depending on the weather. Has anyone else check there favorite spot yet?

About 3-4” here on the local pond. About 2” clear and 2” cloudy. I went out yesterday afternoon and caught about 75 gills, only 10 keepers. 1 crappie was a nice bonus. I’ll post some pics later tonight. Heading to Chicago for the Bears-Packers game today. I should blow that off and fish.  wink

You ever get that 1 man shanty you were looking for?

I’m looking at a shappell rover 1.0.

I have seen this at some Gander Mt. stores for under $200. I am 6’4” and had enought room to fish in it.

I want a 1 man flip over for when I’m by myself or if I’m the only one that wants to use a shanty. That cabin takes 10 minutes to put up and once its up, your not moving it lol.

IC Here is something you could check out. Farm&Fleet;, I know you have a couple of stores near you, maybe you could check them out or order on and tell them you want it here tomorrow. The could ship from another store, say in Wisc.

I wonder how warm the recon is. And I don’t like the idea of having to set-up a camping chair every time I move. I like the built in bench/seat idea better.

Hey BBK…what are ya catching over there? Some lakes here have 5 inches, others have 3. The lake I go to the most should have 4 by next weekend, then its on. I went out yesterday with the kid and caught about 10 keeper gills and 2 crappies. YUM!!!! Fresh iced panfish are the best.

This planet is covered with men who demand that he who spends time fishing shall show returns in fish.

Somebody just back of you while you are fishing is as bad as someone looking over your shoulder while you write a letter to your girl.
