I didn’t hear this discussed at all but technically KVD just did the magic double up in the same tournament season, which makes him only the second person behind Mark Davis to win both for the same tour cycle.

I dont think they will recognize his 09 AOY and this 2010 Classic win as the same feat Mark accomplished. I believe they both have to be the same physical year. That is one reason they talked so much about Skeet being the 2nd angler behind Mark to do this if he had pulled through and taken the AOY title in 09.

I think that is correct. If KVD wins AOY this year then he will join Davis as the only other angler to accomplish the feat.
Obviously because of the way the Classic is now split from the year that AOY is decided there are two distinctions that can be made, while with Mark Davis there was only distinction for both accomplishments.
Now you can:
Win the Bassmasters Classic and AOY in the same calendar year.
AND
Win the Bassmasters Classic and AOY for the same tour season.
It is now impossible to accomplish both of these accomplishments without 3 consecutive titles. KVD has achieved half of what Mark Davis did.
