clear water, very very hard bottom with tons of stumps and laydowns scattered. botom structure is full of dips and ditches with depths varying from 2 to 8 feet.  its very good sized pond fed mostly by the irigation ditch which brings in crawdads for the fish to feed on. the guy who owns it has stocked a few crappie and bluegill but i havent had much luck on either pattern like for swimbaits/cranks.

T-rig a rage craw type and drag and slow roll it along the bottom, the more stumps you can hit the better. Try natural colors like pumpkinseed or green pumpkin.

Try lipless baits on a lift fall retrieve or swim jigs.  For a more subtle technique try senkos texas rigged.

I would use a lipless crank in a craw pattern and yo yo it right now. I would also use a jig and drag or hop it along the bottem. Another good technique to try would be a shakey head.

I would try a flippn’ jig, Texas rigged beavers, and I might try bouncing crankbaits off the stumps.

If you are sightfishing in super clear water, have a few things rigged like a weightless fluke/worm, spinnerbait, jig, and crank.  Le the fish tell you what they want.  Depending on water temp and weather, you might have to slow it down and get reaction strikes.  Definitely natural colors.  And if you find some mats or pads, try a frog.  Oh yeah, try a buzzbait rolled slow around the stumps too.

One more fish, then I’ll come home.

Kind of sounds like a tourney lake/pond I’ll be fishing too. Yeah that would be my first guess.. Swimjig with strike king Rage craw trailor, around rocks, cover, stumps, or just structure. I would like The RangerMatt said, frogs would be my second choice. But in this case it’s you, not me. I would If I were you go for my spinnerbaits, swimjigs, dogwalkers, there’s a lot of things you could try. I would go with my confidence baits first, and natural colors. weather conditions play a big part in the way I fish too. I’ve alway’s thought that baitfish are a bassis main source of food, but frogs, moskito’s, snakes, lizards are extra, Extra meaning a bonus. If everyone else is throwing swimbaits or some form of fish, throw something different.

thanks great ideas guys. well i cant really throw frogs on mats lol haha we dont really have stuff like that in NM. and as for fishing pressure, well i basicly control it. its a private pond, but its pretty big. see the thing is i got pretty lucky and a guy i know is neighbors with this really rich guy who ownes a car dealership and bought all kinds of land for grasing cattle and hired this people to dig him a pond lol and he like never goes down there and i talked to the rich guy and he said i could go down there as long as i like helped keep the weeds off around it lol pretty sweet right? yeah well most fish ive caught have come off crashing a crank and throwing a swimbait. last summer i caught some good ones off a spinner though. the jigs havent reallly worked but i will for sure try a rage craw along the bottom.

Hmm, clear water and private pond. Id throw that swimbait til your arm fell off and then some. I think alot of things could work, but theres got to be some big bass in there, especially in your part of the country, i’d throw your swimbaits alot.

Nice fish!  I got a package of Rage Craws i’m dying to try.  Another idea would be downsize.  I’d try some Pond Magics w/ flouro. and a Texas rigged worm.
