Hate to put a damper on this (I may be there though) - but the weather this weekend is suppose to be pretty nice. My experience on powerplant lakes here in Illinois (Baldwin, Coffeen, Egypt) is the worse the weather, the better the fishing. Nice weather days (good for the fishermen) sucks for fishing.

I sure hope I’m wrong on this.

Well flymantex, i think you were right. I had a pretty tough time the past two days. Friday morning i caught 4 in the first 2 hours, 2 over 3lbs and then it just died. I caught some more little fish that day, but nothing compared to that morning. And today was miserable for me, i worked my butt off for 3 small fish, alot of people i talked to had the same story. I know twitch and kyangler had a rough go at it friday, they did manage some good fish tho and they can tell you about that. But i hope they did better than me today, i havnt talked to them since this morning.

Yeah you guys caught a really bad weekend at Newton.I was there the 6th and 7th.Saturday i caught 4 short fish on a jig, it was really tough with the bright skies and the plant not generating.  Sunday started off pretty rough i caught 7 short fish before noon, but finally started tearing them up on beavers midafternoon. We ended up with 4 keepers. All in all it was a tough weekend, and you guys didnt get to see the real potential.there was 3or4 tournaments going on, and the weights to beat were 9-13lb. which is pretty sad.lastweekend i heard it took 25lb. to win. Anyhow, the weather was really nice, and i was just glad to get out and catch some fish

I know its a great lake. But there its all about the timing. The tournaments make things difficult with that many boats going out. I’m thinking next trip up will be during the week.
We found loads of shad but they seemed to be balled up in 15-20 FOW and the bass around them wouldn’t turn on.
I had my chances at a solid fish each day. Thursday was our best day and the fish was more active for us in the afternoon. My buddy and I both had a legal fish and the kicker shook my crank off at the boat. Saturday was tough for us. Four fish boated, all under 18”. High skies and lots of boat traffic. Sunday we fished for a couple hours. Got one that squeaked 18” and missed another.

Did you fish the cold arm at all this past weekend?
