This post is for tackle reviews, but this is a tool I use all the time on my boat.  I am not big on gimmicky stuff, so when Rapala sent me one of these (free) when I bought my Ranger, I was skeptical. I did however install it one day, and thought I’d see how it worked.  I figured I could remove it if it was (as I figured it would be) just another thing littering up my boat.

Was I wrong !!  This little item is terrific. I would encourage every boater to add this to their rig.  When I have guests on my boat (often) they always rave about this thing. They generally end up buying their own within days of being on my rig.
The holder mounts with 3M adhesive to your boat….and does it stick. Mine has not come close to coming loose since I put it on 2 yrs ago. The holder is magnetic, so the tools which are metal, and high quality) never get thrown from the holder….. even in rough water !

At 30 bucks, it is a great value and really useful item.  Once in a while a really useful thing comes along that is CHEAP !  I love it.

Ive thought about picking something along those lines up a few times. I have a old plier and cutter set I got from Shimano some 15 years ago. Thats still in tip top shape. Hard to drop money on it when the ones your using still works especially when your on a fairly tight budget. But Im getting close I use my cutters alot more now then I use to and the braided rope handles kill my hands.

looks pretty nice… however I’m partial to my Gerber multi-tool.  I don’t use anything else.  We had a saying at the job I had in high school.  Have Gerber, will travel.  I’ve had it for 9 years and it still works just fine.

I have one of those on my boat also and it is one of the best things I bought.  As long as you put your tools back in it you always know where they are.  the magnets hold them in really good.

Looks like a fine product. Yeah, I’ve noticed in some of Bill Dances shows he has pliers held by a magnet to the inside of his boat. Rapala alway’s comes out with nice stuff. I usually see there stuff in Walmart or Cabelas.

The neat thing about the magnetic design is you CAN use a Gerber or almost anything in them. Pike fishermen know, you need a long hook remover (longer than the one included) so I use a different style. It fits in the slots and is held by the magnets.
Also…the wimpy hook cutters in there would NEVER cut a Musky hook…..but my Knipex cutters (a Musky must have) work great in there.
The thing is….you always know where your stuff is.

I just had an idea, what about a magnetic strip or two? I assume it would be a lot cheaper and have the same purpose.
