I used it a couple years ago lake and didn’t like it. It seemed stiff and didn’t cast very well for me. I switched to Vicious and couldn’t be happier. I hope you have better luck with it.
I’ve tried both vanish and vicious and had problems with both. Vanish tended to break on the cast if you flubbed, got to watch a few lipless fly into peoples back yards. Vicious (8lb on a spinning reel) was full of memory, so bad that I couldn’t feel the bottom in 10 FOW with a 1/4oz jig head.
Vanish sucks bad, I’ve tried it twice, its horrible….as for vicious, not sure why people are hyping over it, its worse, I baught a spool to use as a leader for my fly rod 4lb test, it felt like the line has been fished for 10 years, sittin outside in the sun for ever, and made by a 2 year old. Vanish is like 11 dollars for a spool of 300 yeards?, got buy berkley 100% floro or spiderwire floro. Do not waste your cash money on horrible line….
I used Vanish up until I switched to Vicious last year. I never had problems with Vanish, the reason I switched was price Berkley was getting expensive and Vicious had a great price.
I got two spools last spring 50% off. They were 20# transition (gold) at 50% off. I used it last year for spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, and chatterbaits. I can’t complain about it. I know mono would have been a good application, but they were about the same price. It held up to some toothy encounters. For my spinning reel I have Berkley 100% fluoro. I want the most manageable stuff on a spinning reel.
its called vanish for a reason.. when you have a big fish next to the boat they vanish. the 100% floro is better. i have used it for the past 3 years and have never had a problem. just remember to really wet the line when cinching your knots down. i use a palomar knot on everything now and havent broke off yet
I’ve never had issues with Vanish either. Whatever you are using pay attention to your line and retie often. We all hate retying but lose one big fish and you’ll never put it off again.
Well used it today for the first time and what can I say, I love this stuff cast easy, really strong. But if you dont wet the line when you tie the knot its not goin to work.
I’ve used the berkley vanish transitions for 4 years now and havn’t had a problem with it. It’s been a really good line for what I use it for. I do have to say though that the 100% florocarbon is a little better.
A very nice person on here sent me some Vanish and I have liked it so far, but like Twitch says, you have to pay attention to your line and take care of it, and I think that goes with any line you use. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes so what works for one my not for the other. The Vicious line I have works well too, and personally I feel it’s a little better than Vanish in terms of castability but other than that, they are equal to me.
i has use vanish but i switch to pline fluorocarbon and i love it and i use for crankbait fishing but otherthings i would love to see berkley would make a new big game florocarbon .
in otherwise for anythings i use big game for most applaction expect for frogs i use big game braid..
Man you guys have to try the silver thread fluoro line. It is incredible! Its so smooth I can cast a 1/4 oz lipless 60 yards no problem. I fished rip-rap all day and only had to re-tie once due to a nick in the line. Silver thread gets my vote!
I used Vanish for a while as well as Vanish transition. I fish a lot of CLEAR smallmouth waters up here and need the fluoro characteristics. Both gave me some fits with breaking and brittleness.
When I switched to Berkeley 100% fluoro, I did lots better and I now use that a great deal with very few problems other than cost !!
Berkeley has a new mono out that supposedly has the same underwater invisibility but I have not tried it.
100% Fluoro is still my choice but at 17 bucks….it’s a tough one. I like to go with fresh line and the price makes it tough to re-spool frequently.
