where I am at its $2.94…I wish I had a Yahama V-max, I think they have the best gas millage..but I have a optimax AND THAT THING IS A GAS HAWG!!!!!!!!!!
I remember taking a 20 to the gas station and was able to fill my car, get a pop and a tin of chew, when I chewed, and walk out with change. Those were the days
i filled up here wednesday and i had just under a half a tank, i got a 17 gallon tank and it cost me 34 bucks to filler up. don’t know what it is downtown chicago but where i am it’s 3.65 a gallon, about ever 5 miles closer to downtown add 10 cents per gallon. It’s got to be close to 4 bucks or more downtown, and the state of Illinois just jscked up the state income tax 5% recently, i’m making $300 a month less than i was 2 years ago, but my bills have all increased
I hate gas. Right now, it’s up around 3 bucks a gallon, and to get a full tank in my truck at those prices, I pay 80-90 bucks just for unleaded!
As for the boat, my boat is a major gas hog as well. I have a 150 Mercury, and the boat is very heavy compared to most. I can almost see the needle drop if I’m holding the throttle down.
I have a 115 merc and I get pretty good mileage for a 2 stroke. I usually have to fill it twice a year (32 gal tank), but it doesn’t get ran wide open much. I only run unleaded 87 (as merc suggested) and can see much better performance than when I ran 89 or 92.
I always thought they should have set a cap on gas at 2.50 and been done with it, regardless of all the other crap involved with why gas prices go up or down. This gas crap sucks. I so want a tinboat and just use a 10hp or trolling motor and just be done with it. Well that or just luck into the lottery. lol Seriously though, it does effect where and how much I will fish this year. :(
Eh, prices really haven’t affected my fishing much in the past, nor will it this year. I have several very good lakes within 40 miles of my house, so driving isn’t a big issue. Normally, my dad will pull our boat with his truck, which is a Duramax diesel. That truck has plenty of power to pull the boat with ease. If I were pulling it in my F150, it would make for an expensive gas trip. As heavy as the boat is, I have to constantly keep my rpms up and lay on the gas pedal to pull it, which obviously isn’t good for gas mileage.
As for the gas in the boat, well, I’ll just take it easy on the throttle.
Also, I have 3 very good smaller lakes in my town that I use a 10 foot Bass Raider on. Gas isn’t an issue at all for these places.
At first I was like “WHAT!! I know where you’re at, you’re in heaven!”........then I noticed that date and I snapped back to reality. That was really cruel BBK.
I’m not looking forward to the next time I’m home because my boat is sitting on E and I have to fill ‘er back up. She has a 50 gallon tank too. Ouch! The boat is fairly new, less then 40 hours on the 200 Merc, and I am very happy with the fuel economy it gets. It’s twice as good as the 150 Evenrude that I had on my last boat.
My truck doesn’t do too bad on gas but I’m glad most of my fishing is really close to the house.
