Sometimes I use a trailer on my catterbaits. I use a 4” grub or a split tail spinnerbait trailer.

One of my favorite lures is a 5/16 pure poison, chartreuse with a 4” watermelon grub for a trailer.

I always use a trailer on my chatterbaits. It is either a Powerbait Ripple Shad, 4” grub, or the last 1/3 of a Brush Hog.

Depending on the bait I’m trying to imitate I’ll use a Yum Boogie Tail or Craw Chunk.  I like these because they don’t interfere with a trailer hook like a curly tail would.  The only time I wouldn’t use a trailer hook is if I were beating a bank.

ever try putting the trailer ON the trailer hook? Use a smaller trailer and put it directly on the trailer hook, works good sometimes.

Yeah,  zoom Flukes work great on chatterbaits, and gives it a slimmer profile. If I’m using an original Z-Man chatter bait, I always use the split tail trailer that comes with the bait. It helps keep the skirt in place.

never caught a bass without a trailer on my chatterbaits, i use a 5” kalin lunker grub and a red 2/0 trailer hook. Never had much luck with a twin tail trailer.

I very rarely use a trailer on mine. I used to use them occasionally, but never noticed an increase in hits with or without.
