Powell or the Dobyns would be my choice. You can get them for 20% off if you get one in the next several days at TW or any of the other sites doing their big 20% off sales for BF. I haven’t used either, but Dobyns & Powell both have great reps on TackleTour & are highly recommended when talking their price points. The Kistler Magnesium Jig N Toad is a solid stick that I used this last year, although I didn’t get to use it much since the frog bite sort of sucked.

Yeah KCL, I looked at the kistler magnesium. I want to get something over 7’ though, something with a little more length to get that extra leverage on the bass. BBK, which dobyns rods do you own and what are your thoughts on them??

If you want to get a Kistler then get the Argon off of Ebay. They are selling for as low as $98 shipped!

If you’re looking for a Kistler that’ll do that with ease, I used that for some frogging earlier in the year too. If you want power & leverage to get them out of thick stuff that isn’t too heavy in your hands, that’ll work. I had a 2.5-3lber wrapped up in the weeds, I reeled down thumbed the spool & about yanked him out of the water from about 50-60 feet out. Well within your price range too.

Two rods I have used over the past two years and had great success with are the Kistler MgSWSB70 and the Quantum Rojas Frog Rod. You can get both of these at tackle warehouse. The key to a good frog rod is a softer tip for accuracy and action and a strong backbone. Both of these rods have that.

I’m planning on purchasing the Garcia 7’3"H-XF Vendetta rod for my froggin this year. It’s got the features I want and is very easy on the wallet. It’s all about power and speed when it comes to frogging IMO. You want to get that bass out of the slop in a hurry, and the Vendetta will do that.

Believe it or not, I purchased a new frog set up a few weeks ago at BPS, a johnny morris gold reel and a carbonlite 7 foot heavy action with x-fast tip. It’s the perfect frog set up I can think of, just hope it actually performs well

Sounds like a sweet froggin outfit! No doubt you’ll enjoy that. I have a Revo that I’ve had for 2 years that I am planning on putting on my froggin rod. I’m leaning towards the Garcia Vendetta for a few reasons. One, I want a 7’3” or so rod, H-XF and the Venetta is available with those specs. Two, it is designed around the Revo reels to match them for a perfectly balanced outfit. And lastly, my budget is pretty tight and this rod will be something I can afford right now. I looked at the BPS Extreme 7’3” XH-XF and it seems like a decent enough rod, but a bit on the heavy side compared to the Vendetta.
