This color pattern gives me fits to paint.  Here is a batch I just finished for a new friend.

Nice work. It shows that you invest a lot of time in your baits.

Great looking baits Big M! I would have to say those are some of your best patterns IMO.

Hey Big M, I have a questions about your great looking baits. Please excuse my ignorance in how these baits are made, but I was noticing the honey comb pattern on the bodies. Is that some kind a film or material that you put on the bait or do you actually paint that on? Also, do you hand carve each of the baits or do you get a piece that is already cut out? I have absolutely no artistic ability in me what so ever. I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler. But I am amazed at people that can do and make things like this. To me this is a form of art and I love to look at art, especially paintings, and wonder how in the world people can do stuff like that.

DDaniel,  each bait is hand carved/sanded.  I cut each blank from a board and then shape it down to the shapes you see in the pics.  The scale patterns are painted by shooting paint thru a piece of netting stretched over the bait.  I can’t draw a lick or paint, basically I have no artistic ability.  I can however build one bad to the bone crank bait.

Amen brother! You do make one bad to the bone crankbait. I wouldn’t discount your artistic ability. They way you paint your lures is oustanding.
