Nice pics again.  I noticed all of the Lowrance radars on the boats.  I’ve never seen this before.  Is this something new or do they need these for the area that they are fishing?

I think it get’s used more in the winter…..........My son’s (twin monsters) love jumping off it into the snow!!

They have a tunnel labyrinth running through the snow banks with piles of snow ball’s ready and waiting for war. If you walk up the driveway not paying attention they will get ya!!! hahaha

Nice pics again.  I noticed all of the Lowrance radars on the boats.  I’ve never seen this before.  Is this something new or do they need these for the area that they are fishing?

Lowrance’s new broadband radar has GREATLY reduced the size of the radar itself along with the emissions coming from it. The radar is used basically as “eyes” in the fog or at night. I think it was crazy for those guys to be running wide open (or close to it) relying totally on radar to see. Its just not safe.

On the other hand there were guys reporting that you could see individual birds on the radar….so it is detailed enough. It will read land, other boats, objects even rain clouds.

All that said there needs to be a level of common sense when trying to travel at that high of speed in fog as thick as that. I am pretty sure it wont read stumps of deadheads and that could mean a catastrophic crash if you hit one at speeds above 25mph let alone 70mph.
