So I am interested to see the results on this question a pal posed to me while fishing the other day….............
If you were restricted to only ONE artificial bait for the rest of your fishing life, and could not under any circumstances use anything else…..what would it be ???
Be specific here ....color, size etc. Remember, only ONE bait…not two or 3. You’d have to use it for everything you fish for from this point forward under every condition.
I have fished these all over and many different ways - I can T-rig it weightless; T-rig it weighted like a regular plastic worm; wacky rigged; fish it on a drop-shot or shakyhead; I’ve dead-sticked them and just let ‘em fall and I twitched/jerked ‘em like a fluke; I can fish them in the heaviest cover and even like a ‘frog’ over grass mats.
I have just gotten into the swim bait thing this year. Prior I would have said a 5” senko just as fly has for a one and only bait BUT a Huddleston grass minnow for me has been deadly!! Worked over weeds like I would a frog, pitched into holes, run it through grass, drag it on the bottom thrown in beds, jiggle it jerk it come on big momma bite that thing!!
It’s defenately been my secret weapon lately lake or river. Bass, Pike, Tiger Musky, Pickeral, Rock Bass, Carp, Bowfin and eel’s have been tearing them up on me I have a hard time putting it down.
I’ll be testing them on spots and stripers on Lake Lanier in two weeks along with some monster swimbaits I already can’t sleep at night thinking about it!!
i’m going to defer until i see how these Yum Money Hounds perform. got to be some kind of weedless topwater or spinnerbait/chatterbait.
You will find that a money hound is a great lure for a VERY specific situation.. spase weeds in a clear lake with a full on top water bite. They are nice to have if you need them, but a spook will get you more results more of the time.

Can’t throw a spook with weeds all the way to the top, where i fish it is like that 4 or 5 months a year.
if i had to chose 1 bait right now it would be a 3/8 oz chatterbait with white and chartreuse skirt, kalin white lunker grub and a 2/0 red trailer hook. i can cover the whole water column. it’s easy to fish, fun and fast and it catches fish
What a tough question, but it’s one that I’ve answered many times on various sites and forums. If I had to have one lure to use, it would be a 1/2 ounce Rattle Trap, in a crawfish color. I catch fish on these all year long.
A close second would be a 7.5 inch YUM worm, in their Tequila Sunrise color.
5” senko. If color is limited to one, then I’d use chartreuse with green and chart flakes. These baits are so versatile and can be fished any depth and in any situation…cover, vegetation, ledges…you name it.
I would have to say a 1/2 oz jig in a bluegill color with a greenpumpkin double tail grub. You can fish it all 4 seasons from top to bottom. You can swim thru weeds, skip it around docks, hop it off the bottom, swim it across pads, flip/pitch and cast it out on structure.
6” Roboworm Straight Tail worm. I can throw it on a Texas/Carolina rig, drop shot, shakey head or wacky rig. If I only got to use one color it would be Peoples Worm or Bold Bluegill.
