I’ve been fishing ever since I could walk. I grew up over on the coast here in Washington state and did a ton of steelhead and salmon fishing with my grandpa. It wasnt that hard to get out on the water since we lived only five minutes from the saltwater cheese
I began fishing a little pond with largemouth and bluegill in it when I was 8 or 9. Then when I was 10 or so a buddy of mine took me out on his boat, and for the first time ever I got to experience bass fishing from a boat! I immediately got “the bug” and feel in love with it!
I started fishing tournaments when i was 12 and it made it even worse! Ever since that first club tournament on Lake Washington I’ve been obsessed with tournament fishing! I can’t seam to get enough of it!
One day it is my goal and life long dream to fish profechinaly. I will do whatever it takes. I love this sport and to me it IS my life.

i will say this, i have learned a lot in the last 2 years and you guys on this site have helped me a lot! thanks everyone!!!!!!

The most important thing that i have learned is that i haven’t even scratched the surface on what i need to learn, ie techniques, patience, reading water and weather conditions.

i do have more confidence in what i am doing than when i first started 2 years ago. catching a few nice bass will do that, and i am a lot better with the baitcaster than i was last year, but there is still a lot more to learn, practice and accomplish. with you guys helping me, that task doesn’t seem so daunting.

my mom has pictures of my dad and I fishing when I was 3. Being from Miami I have been very lucky to live an hour from the Keys and 10 minutes from the glades but fished almost every day on a lake and a canal in the neiborhood I grew up in. I’ve been fishing for 50 yrs. I grew up using a spinning reel and didn’t start using a baitcaster until my mid teens. Fishing has been good to me. I’m sure I’ll fish until I die, then I’ll fish in the big lake upstairs. ( i hope ). BH

At least 30 years, I am 35.  I took some time off while I was growing up, too busy with sports.  I got back into it after college and the bug bit me. That’s when I learned how to use a baitcaster.  I don’t know how many times since then I have had to upgrade my tackle storage?

Both of my boys have been fishing ever since they could hold a pole and bobber.  Now, my 5 year old is good with his spinning reel, and I taught my 8 year old to use a baitcaster this summer.  They both know who KVD is (I think that means we watch too much fishing on TV), and they tried to beat me this year in fantasy fishing.  They came pretty close too.

3 years ago I got my first boat.  I started fishing a few local bass tournaments for the last 2 years.  Now I can’t wait for spring, as I want to fish the entire schedule on one of those local tournament series.

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

I fished when I was a child but it was very boring…all my family fished with a worm and bobber so it was all I knew.  I spent a lot of time on the lake but just boating not fishing (My wilfe will stare at a bobber for hours.)  4 years ago I sold my motorcycle (to spend more time together as a family) and used the money to buy a boat and because my wife and sons liked to fish I got a fishing boat.  I quickly got bored and on a whim I bought a multi color pack of tubes. About a dozen casts with the tubes and I had a bass. I was more hooked than the fish…shortly after I learned that Kevin lived about an hour away and his brother owned D and R. Sports ... aka bass tackel heaven.

I’M 56 now and i can remember fishing for bullheads and panfish when i was 4 or 5 years old. never fished regularly and there were several periods where i would go years without wetting a line. the past 3 years is the most i have ever fished. so i’m just a begginer.

I’m 24 years old and have been fishing since I would say about 4-5 years old, or however old my dad could tolerate me whining about not catching anything…had a long spurt there where I would only go fishing every once in a while. like maybe once a month. But for the past 4 years I’ve been hardcore about it. A family friend of mine, which is a girl, got me into kayaking. I thought it would be so boring to do…Man if I would have only learned sooner how much fun it could be!
