Fixing a reel?

One of my baitcasting reels is messed up. The line guide gets stuck on the right side. what can i do to fix it?

clean and lube the worm gear under the line guide first

Its under where the line guide goes back and forth, turn the handle and use a q tip or some other type of thing to get in there.

yep, my pinnacle did that too. i just trashed it.

Yeah, for whatever reason, that seems to be a major problem with Pinnacle reels. I was just curious if this was another Pinnacle issue or not.

as long as it is grease and not oil, it will work… but hotsauce is the best

I personally use oil on the worm gear rather than grease.  Grease traps and holds dirt and other abrasives which would inevitably cause the worm gear and the pawl to wear down.

The reason you do not oil the worm gear is because when using the reel drops of water off the line will fall on it, and wash the oil off over time.. thus leaving your gear dry causing it to wear down. You need a nice thick grease on it, then change the grease out every year or so.
