When i comes to fishing plastics and jigs, if you could only have one kind of line to choose from for the whole season what would you choose? Give Brand, line and weight.

thanks

If I had to choose one line size and brand for both plastics and jigs for a whole year I would go with 17 lb flouro from Vicioius.  You could go with 30 lb braid from Power Pro and be just as good.

Yeah…..assuming I was JUST fishing plastics and jigs….then I’d be smallmouth fishing in these parts.
For smallies I love Trilene 100% Fluoro in 12 pound.  Works pretty well.

14-17 lb silver thread clear, low stretch, good abrasion resistence, doesn’t birdsnest, great casting, strong, low visibility

Wind out of the north, fishermen should not venture forth
Winds out of the south, blows the bait in the fishes mouth
Winds out of the east, fish bite the least
Winds out of the west, fish bite the best

17lb Berkley 100% fluorocarbon for plastics and jigs…..............and spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, buzz frogs, c-rigs, squarebills, 10” worms. 17lb handles a lot of baits fairly well.

Used 30 lb. PowerPro on three poles on a trip to Canada last year and never had a birds nest all week. Spool up the PP the way the little booklet that comes with the line shows, directly straight out of the box on to the spool “don’t” remove the spool from the box and lay it on the floor and spool like you would with Mono or Floro and you’ll do just fine.

Yup, I like that box the power pro comes in.. just thread it through the hole if it isnt already, and start winding. I’ve even heard of guys tossing the whole box in the lake to put the line on moist, but I’m not sure I would want to try that. LOL

not sure why some guys use backing cause i have never had a problem with slipping or it digging into itself that it caused a problem.

Just to be safe, I have about a dozen 1/4lb spools of cajun red here that I dont use anymore.. I just grab a spool, usually 17 or 20 and put about 15 yrds of line on as a backing. Keeps everything smooth on the reel, and I dont have to worry about slippage or line digging into and ruining my spool. Just remember to always put braid on tight, or it will dig into itself.
