I’ve tried a bunch of colors and no matter which one I use I can’t seem to get a bite.I’ve also tried the chatterfrog, chattercraw, and chatterstick. What color is a everyone using to catch fish? What trailer is everyone using?
Thanks

The only times that I use chatterbaits are when I’m fishing muddy water and when I’m fishing at night.

Chartruese and Black are literally all I have ever used and ever will use. I don’t find chatterbaits to be productive at all times; for me, they are just a “specialty” lure. The vibration is just phenomenal, which is why I like them in the conditions listed above. As far as using them on a “normal” day, I simply don’t do it.

Chart/white is my go-to color.

I’ve also done well with blk/blue.

White, and black/blue are my favorites.

Remember to reel them as slow as you can, just fast enough to get the blade vibrating. You likely wont feel them hit, it will just feel like something is hanging on.

In murky water you cant beat black/blue with a black trailer.

I have caught several fish on a green pumpkin/purple/chartreuse pure poison with a RI sweet beaver as a trailer. This mimics a bluegill fairly well. If Im fishing in lakes where shad are the dominate forage Ill use a white/chartreuse or a sexy shad with a RI skinny dipper as a trailer. Usually fish these in stained water near grass.

With the Chatterbait’s vibration, color shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Black, white or chartreuse and white should catch you some fish. If your not catching fish, it may be more of a time and/or place issue.

i use chart/white mostly with a white trailer. i catch fish in low light conditions and try to fish them at the speed where you get the max vibration. you can feel it in the rod. you can use the trailer that comes with it or something else. i like the 5” kalin lunker grub and use a red trailer hook.

white/chart or black/blue and I will fish them along a weed or grass line, sort of like you would a spinnerbait.  I will also throw them around docks when shad are around and try to bump it off the pilings.

i just found an old chatterbait with no skirt on it, black head, and put a chartreuse and black flake 5” Kalin Lunker grub on it and going to throw it for a while, always a trailer hook. chatterbait bite should be starting to get better, geez, praying for some cloud cover. Bluebird skies and no wind are making fishing very tough last few weeks.

Almost every fish I’ve caught on a chatterbait about ripped the rod out of my hand.  2 weeks ago I was fishing a chatter with a jigging type retrieve right along a weedline - the fish hit so hard and then made a quick run into the weeds - I thought I had a 5 lber - turned out to be a 12 incher.

I’ve never fished them around cover much, usually rip rap banks. I reel it as slow as I can along the bottom to mimic an injured shad or craw scooting along the bottom. Usually just load the rod, never had one hit it hard.

if you can’t feel the blade you are either weeded up or got a fish. never had 1 hit that hard yet flyman but i keep trying.

I have got hits both ways. I like to fish it fast over grass and the fish will clober it. I have also fished it slow and just felt weight of the fish. Most of the time I am reeling it in fast.

When I’m using a chatter its mostly a silver and white in murky and a green pumpkin in clear water. As far a trailers I use a yamamoto hula grub because of the action it gives off, I uses a Smokey black with white and black and blue with green pumpkin gives off a good color contrast.
