I spent most of the day working on the old rowboat I got.  I put a new transom on after I sealed it with Spars.  Changed the spark plugs and oil in the lower unit on the ‘58’ Evinrude.  Wired up the trolling motor and electronics.  I left the oars on just in case I ecountered any waterfalls.  Even though I’ve been having back problems it felt good to work on something.  Kinda like when the Fonz put his bike back together when he lost his eyesight.  I took the boat out this morning and the little 3hp fired right up.  I could make a good wake, but not get on plane.  I don’t like my makeshift battery box and I need to move the battery foward.  Plus, I need to find a better way to stow my rods or they are going to get beat up.  I usually stand in between the back bench and the middle bench.  So far, I’ve caught a pike (reason for net) and a couple bass.

At least the motor moves ya! thats all that matters!

You pretty much found the best way to store your rods, that’s about the safest way right there, up front and away from your legs.

Nice set-up. You plan on standing up and fishing from the rear?

Yep, with it being only 12’ and a modV that’s really the only place I could stand.  It’s really not that rocky when I stand there.  I’ve had it out twice and stood both times.  When I’m in deeper water I wear my vest.  I got to fish some docks and the only thing I didn’t like was reaching down with a hand to steer the trolling motor.  I got to come up with something. (hmmmm.)

Nice!  I think a motor will get you to more spots and help the boat track straighter.

Your right.  If I build something to keep it organized it’s gonna take up space that I don’t have.  Pretty much the stack method is the best cus it does keep them away from my feet.
