sometimes it makes all the difference in the world to those smart fish in clear water. They know not to leave the weeds for food. I know its a pain to clean the weeds off and all that but sometimes its worth it. On sunny days I’ve had my best luck with senkos, let them fall hard and go down into the weeds then pop it out and let it fall back into the weeds.

i know, i just don’t like fishing slow and dragging baits on the bottom or through the weeds, but i am going to have to, to be able to catch fish at this pond, when it’s cloudy i can fish fast

I actually enjoy crawling baits along the bottom or over rocks.  When fishing 3 days during club tournaments and making thousands of casts, it’s a welcome rest to my arms and wrists.  lol

I have just never fished that way. only time i fished slow was catfishing or under a bobber. i know i have to start throwing more jigs and worms and fish the fluke baits properly. i know how to do it, i just don’t like to. on this clear pond, i’m not doing anything but getting casting practice unless it is low light.  on sunny days i need to change my approach or don’t fish at all.

Winds out of the east, fish bite the least
Winds out of the west, fish bite the best

i used to hate it, but you have to do it man. after a wile i guarantee you will love it. its just a confidence thing right now. fishing “slow” isnt actually fishing slow. it doesnt take very long to work a senko or a big jig. you can blow through the water with those baits sometimes.

if i had the choice of catching the same fish with either a jig or a crank, i would choose a jig over a crankbait. its more enjoyable for me.

I concur…there’s just something more exciting about a fish inhaling a jig vs. a reaction smack on a crank.

i don’t fish cranks either, i got shallow water and heavy weeds, not good conditions for a crank. i’m going back out tomorrow with a dropshot and a texas rig and that’s all.

nice fish Cincy, deep colors. looks very healthy. fat belly too. I use cranks in shallow water all the time. i love it when I can rip it through the or out of the weeds. i run it along the shore. I can’t tell you how hard it gets slammed. I crank it fast with a stop and go retrive.  works good down here. sometimes the water is less than a foot.  can’t be afraid to try different things. KVD cranks everywhere. try it, you might just fall into something no one else is doing.  BH

i started feeling sick last night, hard raspy cough, sore throat, fever. didn’t sleep well, was up at 2 am taking antibiotics. first signs of walking pneumonia. i’m trying to keep it from getting in my lungs, if it does i’m screwed. i feel a little better now. think the antibiotics are working, i hope. feel woozy though. if i feel a little better tomorrow, i will got to the ponds. thanks for all your suggestions guys. i got a 30 lb backpack full of lures you have all suggested. i definitely get my excercise walking to and from the ponds and walking the bank.
