what kind of lures you going to fish? what kind of structure? Finesse fishing go with 8-10 lb fluorocarbon. Anything else use 20 lb braid.

Wind out of the north, fishermen should not venture forth
Winds out of the south, blows the bait in the fishes mouth
Winds out of the east, fish bite the least
Winds out of the west, fish bite the best

What is your definition of finesse? either 20lb braid, 10lb braid, 10lb fluoro, or 8lb fluoro.

I have Shimano® Spirex® RG Rear Drag Spinning Reels sr2500rg with the Quick Fire trigger.  It has some bad stuff about it.  If the trigger breaks (it will) the levelwind will be out of balance.  This will make it do a goofy wobble as you reel in.  Next thing is you should always open and close the bail with your hand.  This stops the line from twisting and getting messed up on the spool.  Last thing is because its got the trigger it always goes back to the top so you can cast.  You always have to keep your hand on the handle or it will “back up” on you and you could miss a fish.

For line I would say 8lb flourocarbon.  Don’t buy a reel with a spool smaller than the 2500 reel.  The line works better on a larger spool.  It won’t “jump” off as bad.

If it has a fightin’ drag make sure the “Fightin’ Drag” (lever) is in the middle then set your normal drag (knob).

Hard to tell, could have been a monster….......then again it could have been a 2 pounder. Set your drag to the point where you can pull the line off the spool by hand. You dont want this to be too easy…........but dont make it where you have to put much effort into it either.
