Here is what KVD had to say on the issue.

Kevin,

Did this thread inspire your article posted above?

Just curious. Thanks.

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

One thing I like to do in the spring time when I’m bed fishing is use a “double drop shot”
I mainly use it for smallmouth, but I’ve caught largemouth with it to.
Its just a regular drop shot set up with two baits tied on instead of one. My weight is on the bottom, of course, and then I tie my first bait 3-4” off the bottom. My second bait will be tied on 5-6” above that.
You drop that set up down on a bed and it pisss them off so fast. I think that in the spring time on little lakes that get pounded day in and day out, that double drop shot is something there not used to seeing as much.
And they don’t prefer one bait over the other. They bit whatever bait is right infront of their face when they get pissed off. I’ve caught just as many on the top bait as the bottom bait.
That’s just something weird that I do, but I have confidence in it and that’s all that matters.

Makes sense, well thought out, way to go Nick!

I am going to use a jig at the bottom of my drop shot as my weight.  Never done it, but always wanted to.

That’s a helluva idea. i might do something like that myself, thanks. Instead of a jig i might try a 1/4 oz jig spinner like a beetle spin. I’d like to try a drop shot with a double frog hook but all the double frog hooks are way to big for a drop shot.

Which would be better on the bottom of a drop shot, a jig or a shaky head worm?

The only thing I’ve done is a double fluke rig worked pretty well

How did you rig it? like KVD in his BPS video?

I’m going to try a 5” fluke as a trailer on my spinnerbait instead of a grub for the first time, it’s not a rig or anything, just something different i’m going to try.

http://www.bassmaster.com/tips/donkey-rig
here’s where i saw it at

That’s what kvd calls a double Zulu rig because he use 3x Zulu baits on it.

I’ve never seen the video so I don’t know.

but if you look at a fluke like Zoom Super Fluke when you t-rig it the hook point lays across the back (some people then bury the tip in the back to make it more weedless).  What I do - sometimes - is T-rig it so the point comes out on the belly side - again bury the tip of the hook in for weedless.  This causes the fluke to fall nose down upside down - like a dying shad.

Go to BPS outdoor videos on their website and KVD has abbout a 10 minute video on a double Zulu rig he calls it. When fished it looks like 2 shad chasing each other. he uses it when fish are schooling like in the fall.

Here it is:
