^Pretty sure that’s a flipping switch, atleast from what I remember playing with one at Scheel’s. Turn it on, the spool engages when you take your thumb off the thumbar.

yeah thats what it is…I personally dont like it because i still like to control the spool with my thumb. This makes it somewhat difficult.

I actually wouldn’t mind one, I have a bad habit of not engaging the spool very quickly or jamming my thumb hard on the spool when I pitch & I’ve missed one here & there because of it. Of course, none of the reels I’m really interested in offer it besides a Core 100, but I’m not paying $350 for a flipping reel, so I’ll make due with what I’ve got & try to work on my technique/readiness when I’m pitching next year.

i don’t do much pitching or flipping where i fish so i won’t use it much. maybe just enough to have some idea of what it does. These 2 Black Max’s are more for back-up and not everyday use anyway. i have several other good quality reels that just need cleaned and lubed. I’ll try the BM’s out early just so see how they do then put em away.

Sounds to me like a flippen switch. You’ll enjoy them especially for the price, did FFO include any goodies in the box?

Yea, can’t really remember what it was, i think a pack of finesse worms. for a 6 reel order i was expecting more, but it’s all good, i got something.
