We all miss!!  If we do all the right things some times the deer we hit just won’t die or sometimes we didn’t hit them like we thought.  All apply if you hunt long enough.

Now I don’t drive deer, I believe in hunting from a stand, but I will stalk them if I get the right chance.  Nor, will I ever take a shot at anything I’m not comfortable in taking to kill with one shot.  One Man’s kill shot is another’s miss.

Without our youth hunting and fishing there will be no future in either.  We should always remember to encourage them and everyone at every chance we get.

We all remember doing things in our youth that we not the brightest things in the world.  Hopefully we all did those things with passion for the love of the sport.  I still don’t think I’m the brightest crayon in the box.

What am I trying to get at?  One thing, we all don’t hunt or fish in the same way.  I don’t agree with the way that some of our younger members (or older ones for that matter) do somethings.  We as outdoor enthusiast need to help educate others the proper way to conduct ourselves (or even to tell our story in right way) or others will that that right away from us.  There are plenty of those kind of people out there just waiting to do just that!  None of us want that to happen!!!

Now that I have probably sounded like a politician (I’m not) and pissed everyone off, I will await the responses, both negative and negative.

And since I have sounded like a politician, may God bless the United States of America!!! smile

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

i hear you, i see so many kids trying to fish with no supervision and they don’t know what to do with the tackle or how to fish it. they don’t take it serious and after a few minutes they are running around bothering other fishermen because they just don’t care. Why should they care, their parents or relatives don’t care.

30 years ago u could spend a little bit of time to help the kids out but you can’t do that now with all the kiddie porn and sex abuse cases all over. you try to help a kid out nowadays and pat a kid on the back and you wind up in jail accused of something. world is so sick now, just makes you sad and mad

then they grow up, unless they take the time to learn how and what to do correctly on their own, they will never learn and their kids will never learn.

My dad never taught me how to fish but he did teach me to respect nature. he was more of a hunter than a fisherman. i always liked to fish more than hunt but he taught me that one very valuable lesson, respect nature. kids just don’t get it, they think it’s ok to throw trash all over, when there is a trash can 10 feet away, or break and tear things up.  they weren’t taught the right things and sadly they will never learn to respect nature.

I’ll admit it, I am not huge on driving deer either. I do it because it is either I take up bow hunting, hunt from a blind or stand during shotgun or muzzleoader season, or travel south and hunt from a blind or stand with a rifle. All of those types of hunting require lots of time and money, and those are 2 things I don’t have enough of. Leaving me with only one other option, deer drives. Hopefully this will be my last year doing the deer drives cuz the following years I will be in the Air Force stationed somewhere there is other big game (hoping for Great Falls, Montana grin )

You want Big Game Jake go for Elmendorf, Anchorage, Alaska. it’s good duty for someone that loves to hunt and fish.

Used to do drives a long time ago, you dont even hear people doing them anymore up here. Iv seen way to many deer get injured with drives its hard to lead and get a good kill shot at a deer running full boar bouncing and jumping. I prefer the stalk and walk, I cant sit in a blind or a stand im just to figity. I see more deer just creeping slowly around the woods anyways. Even if its just getting busted cause I didn’t see them before they saw me.

Also I enjoy just being out in the woods listening to the wind, watching the squirrels running around maybe taking a nap under a tree…........................... no sounds of my wife yelling at me to take out the garbage or clean the garage, no kids wining or fighting and noone from work can get ahold of me. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

nothing but peace and quiet for a few hours and moments of pure terror!! hahaha

I tell you what, I bet you could sit next to a tree like turkey hunting and shoot one. I have them walk up on me all the time when turkey or squirrel hunting, just sitting next to a tree along a deer trail. All you need is a pure orange hat for shotgunning, right? I know a lot of guys that just walk into the woods and sit for deer with muzzleloaders, so I bet it would work with shotgun. Might want to give it a try after school one day.

I cant tell you how many deer I have just walked upon or walked to me so close I could have almost touched them. Last year just got 3 inches of snow over night the nice fluffy stuff that makes walking up mountains and thru woods nice and quiet. Anyways I get to a clearing up top and im right in the middle with one 3” oak to my left. In the corner of my eye I saw some movement crouched down and stood still in open sight. I scoped about 15 does heads looking for a following rack.

Not one buck in the whole herd thats walking right for me. Surrounded by about ten does just sitting there watching them as walk past me one of them is no more then 10’ in front of me stops dead and just looked at me stomping its hoof for what seemed like 5 min until I quietly said BOO. Then they all take off it was one of the coolest things iv seen in the 17 or so years I’v been deer hunting. Wished I had a doe tag that year or a couple I could have cleaned house!!

Well deer season is over with, but getting ready for turkey season. My dad killed 4 bucks and one hog, weighing in at around 250 pounds. oh, the meat on it was so good. we made steak, and hamburgers, and sausage. Same with the deer. The deer hamburgers are really good. Grinding up fat with the deer meat, oh, irresistable. Those hogs and bores can be bad on the feed around here. Were having a real bad problem with them, good thing you can hunt them year round. I got one big 9 point. big deer but small rack. he was hamburger meat too. In the market right now to purchase a Glock 40 , for my hog hunting. Starting to really see a lot of turkey’s coming in around 9 o clock in the morning and late in the afternoon. Just half to get everything ready. Looking forward to hunting them, this will be my first year.
