I honestly thought that this website would be swarming with KVD fans! I guess maybe that people think the fishing is done for, which isn’t true, they aren’t quite as active as they would be during the main fishing season.

In all fairness, this website is swarming with KVD fans!  While I might be one of the newer members, like yourself, I have never saw anything that would make me think otherwise!!  There are lots of members, like myself, that for one reason or another that put our rods and reels down for the late fall/winter.  I go into my hunting mode, plus I have never been one to go drill holes into the ice and hope that where I drilled my hole the fish would happen to be there.

But, for us in the North that don’t ice fish, we still come here to get our fishing fix until we can go hit the open water in the spring.

I fish all spring, summer, and fall.  Then I hunt deer, pheasants, rabbits, and maybe a few other critters.  Then repeat again.

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

oh im not saying the ppl on here dont like kvd by no means. haha not a big deal obviously… yea i’m not into ice fishing either. I dont really have any friends that like to fish, so getting out on the lake by myself to ice fish is a little too dangerous for me. I’m not much into hunting, but always like seeing my buddies bring in the big bucks and cooking up some good game! For me, my studies keep me busy enough during the winter. That includes all the good fishing shows on t.v. haha

I usually fish through Christmas if the lake doesnt freeze over. Last year I was catching bass in late February so the cold doesnt bother me if the wind isnt bad. This time of year is great to get out and do some mapping also. No traffic on the water and you can idle around looking for new structure to try out.

Wind out of the north, fishermen should not venture forth
Winds out of the south, blows the bait in the fishes mouth
Winds out of the east, fish bite the least
Winds out of the west, fish bite the best
