scent is something i am going to make a big effort to use more next year. never used much this year and i have plenty. first thing i got to do is put it in my backpack when i head out.

to get your scent to last longer on your bait, spray it on at night before you go fishing and let it dry, it will still feel gooey but it won’t wash off as quick when it’s being retrieved

I can’t remember the last time I used any scent.  I think that will have to change in 2012, at least to give it a try.

Can’t hurt, at least it will help mask your odors and it may not make the fish bite but it might have them hit it harder and stay a little longer. i’m sure it gets some fish to bite too

Wind out of the north, fishermen should not venture forth
Winds out of the south, blows the bait in the fishes mouth
Winds out of the east, fish bite the least
Winds out of the west, fish bite the best

Should I get the shad, craw or both?

Do you use the shad on anything swimming and craw on plastics and jibs?

Depends on how im fishing. I fish a lot of off-shore structure,so when I throw a jig, its usually a football head. Ill also apply the craw scent to baits I C-rig and other slow moving bottom bouncers.
Ill use the shad on cranks, spinnerbaits, flukes, swim jigs….... Typically I dont start out with scent, but Ill add it if I feel the bite would be better.

it’s a confidence thing, some people swear by it and others hate it. personally i don’t think scent can hurt and may help, so next year i’m am going to use it a lot more.

Doesn’t that burn?

Last time I used scent was for doughballs when I was a kid.  I thought the name anise was funny.  Caught lotsa carp though.
