Great to have you here. Where in the Chicago area are you? I’m in DuPage county. There are a few more from the Chi area on this forum also.

fish in my signature is from a forest preserve lake on a frog in August this year

thanks for the welcome

CincySid - I’m actually from DuPage as well. That’s a sweet catch from a FP lake - I usually try to hit those lakes as well, at least before they get too weed choked and/or I get irritated by the crowds with buckets

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

We are going to have to hook up and do some fishing together. i hear you about the bank sitters with the buckets, what gets my goat is they keep everything they catch from a 4 inch crappie to a 8 inch bass, it all goes in the bucket. i live in Glen Ellyn by the way.

Yogi,

Welcome aboard.  I’m in Mount Prospect just north of O’Hare.  I get out on Busse but haven’t been down by you or Cincy’s neck of the woods although it’s only about a 1/2 hour South of me.  The guys on this site are just awesome.  I’m just getting back into bass fishing after a pretty long layoff and the information they have provided me is invaluable.

Come spring me, you, and Cincy need to get our fishing on!

Welcome! what kind of boat are you fixing up?

It’s a 16 ft Lund aluminum with the bench seats - lived in the garage for a few years without being used. After the rotted out plywood/carpeting deck is replaced and maybe a new seat or 2 should be good to go

Smash - sounds like a plan

got a trailer for that bad boy?  busse allows trolling motors only and I bought a 52 lb thrust minn kota this last summer that we can throw on it.  They rent batteries so I’d probably rent a spare battery to make sure we aren’t rowing that son of a gun depending on how long we’re running the motor.

Cincy-I think your style of fishing would kill Busse.  We could get out on the boat and fish some very remote areas that you can’t get to on foot and probably kill em.  Weeds, moss, etc.

I’ve been fishing it with mostly cranks and plastics with mild success.
