Yogi,

Welcome aboard.  I’m in Mount Prospect just north of O’Hare.  I get out on Busse but haven’t been down by you or Cincy’s neck of the woods although it’s only about a 1/2 hour South of me.  The guys on this site are just awesome.  I’m just getting back into bass fishing after a pretty long layoff and the information they have provided me is invaluable.

Come spring me, you, and Cincy need to get our fishing on!

Smash

you got that right, looking forward to it.

got a trailer for that bad boy?  busse allows trolling motors only and I bought a 52 lb thrust minn kota this last summer that we can throw on it.  They rent batteries so I’d probably rent a spare battery to make sure we aren’t rowing that son of a gun depending on how long we’re running the motor.

Cincy-I think your style of fishing would kill Busse.  We could get out on the boat and fish some very remote areas that you can’t get to on foot and probably kill em.  Weeds, moss, etc.

I’ve been fishing it with mostly cranks and plastics with mild success.

Love the weeds, i went to Busse with the wife about 4 years ago several times to ride our bikes but didn’t do any fishing. i hear they got some nice walleye in busse

yeah it’s set up with a trailer—gotta fix the lights on it (think it’s the grond wire, guess we’ll find out in spring haha). It has a little 9.9 yamaha on the back, which last time i checked still ran decent. I think I’m gonna look into a trolling motor for the front maybe if finances allow for it, we’ll see on that one though

do you need a permit for launching at Busse? not sure how that works with FP lakes

Your regular state registration should be good throughout the state including Forest Preseve lakes. might be a fee to use the launch ramp but if it is registered you should be good to go. I would love to boat down the Illinois river and get hit in the head with those asian carp, LOL.

Good luck with that, my fishing is over for the year. to old to get out in the cold and wet. plus i have to work, it’s almost dark by the time i get home.

At this time of the year its one rod which is normally my Cabelas Xmlti rigged with a fat ika and I’m usually only out an hour or so.
