I was able to get out and do a little pouring today. I made up a batch of senkos for myself. I decided to go simple today and make me some Watermelon Black Flake Senkos.

Looks good Jake.  Do you have any idea what the rate of fall is like on it (compared to the yamamoto)?

**Update**
Just realized I made my 100th post.  I know that’s not a lot on this forum, but a milestone anyways.

from everything I have heard, the closest someone can get to replicating a gycb senkko’s fall rate is by using 3/8ths cup of salt per cup. I use 5/16ths cup of salt per cup of plastic. They have a slower fall but man they wiggle like crazy on the fall

They look terrible - you better send me the whole batch so I can ensure they are properly disposed of.

Very nice looking baits.

Those look really good Jake.  When I saw it I had to ask the question, what’s the difference between Green Pumpkin and Watermelon.  They look really close in color.

Green pumpkin has more of a brown tint to it right out of the bottle.

men don’t see colors like women do. Women can pick out colors and tints 100X better than men. We see green, women see 100 shades of green. Hope the bass don’t have eyes like women. So if you are wondering about a color, darker, brighter, more greenish etc. ask a woman.

I love fishing the yamamoto senko.  I love their fall rate and how well they work, but hate spending $8 per pack.

About what does it cost to pour your own?

The baits themselves don’t cost much. The materials used to make them though are fairly expensive though.

Lets just say that after you buy all the stuff, you are breaking even at best.. after years. Yeah they are only a few cents each to make, but to do that you have to spend $500 in supplies. With that money you could just go buy 80+ packs of yamas or 125 packs of “other” brand. Think about how long it would take you to use up 80 packs of senkos… is it really worth the time to MAYBE get the correct fall rate?

Yeah you dont have to spend $500 to do it. You could go buy a quart of plastic, a cheap plastic mold, and a couple colorants and spend less than $50 but you will not get the quality jake and I are putting out.. and nowhere near yamamoto.

The best way to bypass yamamoto’s prices is to try a few different custom guys and see who’s you like better (everyone’s baits are a little different) and then buy in bulk for discount. Not sure if jake has the right set-up to do bulk runs, but he might be able to give you a good deal. I’d offer to send you some but all my bass stuff is put away for the winter.

By the way jake, check out this plastisol.. I’ve switched over to it and love it, and its half the price of the others. 2.5 gal for something like $66 with shipping.
