Does BPS still do the annual reel trade-in? If so, is it worth it?  I got plenty of 7:1 reels, but nothing for crankiing.

usually during the spring classic. depending on the price of the new reel, you can save some $$$

If you’re trading in a cheap reel for an expensive reel, it’s worth it. But if you’re trading in a reel that’s in the same price range as the one you’re looking to get, I think you’re better off selling it & taking that cash to BPS & getting the reel instead.

Yea, I try to take something that is in good condition. But I dont take anything I have laying around that is higher dollar. I’d rather sell it outright and put that cash towards another reel. It gives me the freedom to shop around for a better deal then BPS has.

I think my Cetinas and older Citicas would be alright to trade in.

I might have to trade in one of my free Q spinning reels from that Cajun mail in towards one of the new Carbonlite reels. I wish I could remember the percentage off, but I know it goes up the more you spend.

just about everyone has some old reels laying around that are in perfect working condition but don’t use anymore. be a good way to clean out the old and bring in the new.

I dont think they do. I believe the point of the trade-in is to donate the reels they receive to local youth clubs for kids/teens to have something to fish with.

Do they take any reel as long as it is in good working condition. I have some Cabelas spinning reels that work just fine but would like to up-grade to a better brand of reel. i got like 4 or 5 of these Cabelas spinning, will they take them all?

Yea, they’ll take them if they work. If you take in three reels, you get three vouchers. You are only allowed to use one voucher per new reel purchase though.

Well that sucks, is there a time limit to when you can use the voucher?

Problem is they EXCLUDE Shimano reels from this deal.  So I use Calcuttas and they are excluded.
