Huntin seasons over wifes out shopping, kids are at my brother in laws baking cookies. What’s a guy to do but go fishin!  I wake up its 18 deg (darn) gonna wait till the sun comes up and get some gear ready. Call up my boy Franky bag O doughnuts and tell’em to pack up two rods some jigs, some tubes, curly tails and jerk baits and lets hit the river.

He lauphs at me thinking i’m nuts I tell him i’ll be there to pick him up in an hour.

Hit the water according to my truck it’s 24 deg better then 18.

We start dragging tubes and curley tails clearing ice off our eyes and nothin probably for the first half hour. On that note do not use braid in freezing water I know this and still grabbed the wrong rod. Always use Mono in sub freezing weather dummy!! Any ways long story short 4 hours of freezing our a$$‘s off we ended up catching 8 SMB and one dink eye.

Not to mention this is the first time i’v fished the river since it looked like this. It’s amazing anything survived what they concidered a 500 year flood.

The area we were fishing is maybe 8 to 10 feet on the edge of the channel. The river gets drawn down before winter. Normally we are ice fishing this time of year, some freaky warm weather goin on.

It was 60 degrees and thunderstorms this morning on my way home from work.
I may have to hook the boat up one more time.
Some good looking fish River. Who knows when the flood carried them from.

60’s in December I couldn’t even imagine that here in NY. If it were I’d be calling into work and hitching up the boat!!! haha

Nice fish River!  I sit around here bummed out waiting for spring.  I should grab a pole and some curly tail grubs and go down to the river.
