What kind of fluoro does everybody use? I recently got some Berkley Vanish. I haven’t had a chance to try it out and was wondering what ya’ll use.

I’ve used Trilene 100%, Spiderwire Ultracast 100%, Cajun 100%, & Stren Fluorocast 100% & all have been solid, outside of the Stren which I found to be complete junk. Yeah, it’s $10 a spool, but it handles like it’s $1 a spool & I had several break offs on very fresh line. Trilene & Cajun I like quite a bit, but I like the Spiderwire more than either. It seems to be a bit less stretchy than the other two & has held knots & held up really well for me. I’ve got a 12lb spool of Stren 100% to try this coming year, which I think will be more along the lines of Trilene & Spiderwire, & not fluorocast.

Going off rep, BPS & Seaguar have pretty good reputations from reading around & would be lines I wouldn’t mind trying, along with Suffix’s new fluorocarbon they’re rolling out.

Berkley Trilene 100% and BPS XPS fluoro. Thats about all I use now. I used P-Line for awhile and liked it too.

I have used Vicious lately with positive results. I am going to try Berkley 100% next because I can get a good deal on it. I tried BPS XPS fluoro once and I hated it. it had too much memory for my liking

i’ve got some Vicious i’m going to try this year and also some Cabelas 100% i’m going to try. I’ll let you know how it performs.

I had heard that the longer you use 100% fluoro it becomes more manageable, it kind of wears in, is this true?

One thing to remember so it dont leave a bad taste in your mouth, Winter is not a time to decide if you like a line, The cold temps are not Friendly to Flouro. Also, research knots, you may tie a knot have a lot of line breakage when another knot wont. Flouro will cut into itself so double wrap knots seems to work best.

Seaguar invizx. , the 100% is a good line also. I think the seaguar is a little better on spinning reels it doesnt twist so bad.

Great poing Top!!!!

I have used Berkley Vanish and Viscious and like both.  I prefer to cast with Vanish and flip/pitch with Viscious.  Just my pennies worth.

Everything i have heard or read say use a palomar knot for fluoro. if double wraps are better, i’m all for it.

I switched to the San Diego Jam knot from the Palomar and will not go back to another knot for fluoro. I broke off a couple of times this year with the palomar knot and then I switched to the San Diego Jam knot half way through the year and had no brake offs ever since. It is quite easy to tie too.

I tying the same knot as Jake. Ill still use the palomar knot but Im using the SD knot more and more. I think its also called Shaw Grigsby’s knot.

I saw in an article the guy showed knots for fluoro,  either the palomar or he preferred the Berkley braid knot with 3 wraps.

just saw a you tube video from North American Fisherman knot wars and the Berkley Braid knot was the line to lure winner for 2010. Must be a helluva knot. I’m going to go home tonight and practice tieing it. Looks fairly easy to tie correctly and should be good with fluoro.
